T1, Week 3

Swimming Carnival & Sport Information

Our Stage 2 and 3 students enjoyed a wonderful day at Stockton Pool for the Swimming Carnival on Wednesday. It was lovely to see so many students excited to be there and enthusiastic about having a go at many different events. Congratulations to all our students who gained places in the races and also to the students who challenged themselves and had a go at races that they had never tried before. I love seeing our students use their gifts and talents to bring glory to God. Thank you also to all the parents who came along to encourage our students. A great day was had by all! For more information and photos please see the Sport News.

MCS offsite Sport program begins next Wednesday, 21st February. Bike Club also begins in Week 4. Please make sure you have given your child permission to participate on the Parent Portal. More information in the Sport News.

Early School Pick Up Procedures

Our school day begins at 8:50am and ends at 3:10pm and it is a busy day with active learning taking place throughout the whole day. We request that where possible parents make medical and other appointments for their children outside of school hours. We also acknowledge that sometimes this is impossible. In order to minimise disruption to classes we ask that if you need to collect your child from school before 3:10pm that you send an email to medowie@acc.edu.au by 9am the day of the appointment and we will make sure that your child is brought to the office for you to collect. Unfortunately, due to the busyness of school life, if we receive short notice for the collection of children, parents will be asked to wait until an Executive Staff member is available to collect them from class.

Infants Yowie Bag Tags

We are blessed to see so much growth in our school, with more children moving in and out of our grounds each day. Our number one priority is the safety of your children. There are many different avenues that our students take to return home in the afternoon and to ensure that they are safely delivered to the correct location we are introducing a new system. Today each child in K - 2 will bring home a Yowie Bag Tag. Please add your child’s name and class to the tag and then record the location that they need to go to at the end of the school day using the codes below. Please return your child’s Yowie Bag Tag  to their class teacher on Monday and we will then laminate them and attach them to your child’s bag. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe. If there is a change to your child’s regular routine, please inform us by emailing:

Come along and have a cuppa and learn about how we teach Phonics in preparation for reading and writing at MCS. Our Kindergarten teachers are looking forward to spending this time with you and taking you on a journey through Kindergarten phonics.

Musical

Please check the Parent Portal for all your child’s costume needs for the production. For all musical updates please refer to the Music News.

Clubs

We are so blessed at MCS to have many break time Clubs that our students can be involved in. Please see the Week 2 Primary News for Club Information.

Primary Stage Term Overviews

We are changing the way we communicate with our families in 2024. Instead of receiving a weekly email with updates about what is happening in classes we will now publish term overviews and updates in the Newsletter. The term overview will help you know about the learning that your child is engaging with in class and important updates and announcements will be updated fortnightly. Primary Stage Term Overviews can be found at the links below.

We are looking forward to a great year ahead with our Primary families and wish you all a very restful weekend.
