T3, Week 7
Father’s Day
Happy Father’s Day to all our dads, grandads, uncles and father figures in the MCS Primary community. We are so grateful for the way you love our students and build into their lives each and every day. We wish you all a wonderful day with your families on Sunday and that you will experience the great love of our Heavenly Father.
Grandparents Day
What a wonderful morning we had last Friday when we welcomed our parents and grandparents into our school to help us celebrate all things books. It was lovely to see all our students dressed up as their favourite book character and we are so grateful for all the work that our parents and grandparents did to create these amazing costumes. Thank you to everyone who brought along a picnic morning tea to enjoy with our students. It was lovely to see everyone stretched out on our ovals soaking up the sun.
We were also delighted to celebrate our grandparents and thank them for all that they do to support our students. It was fun having them join us in our classrooms to experience school life in 2026. Thank you to all the grandparents who were great sports joining in with our learning experiences. We are so grateful for your love and all that you do for our students.

Book Week
Book Week is over! Another Book Week has gone by and once again I cannot express the extent of my gratitude for the students, staff and family of this school.
Our students coped so well with an unusual week of disrupted routine, extra activities, competitions and performances. This year’s Book Week featured so many new elements including a Write Your Own Adventure Competition, a book cover creation competition, and a livestream musical performance by Perform Education.
I want to thank our wonderful staff for their efforts. Book Week is always a strong reminder of what an amazing group of people we have working at MCS. Thank you to Mrs Falckh and Mrs Blatch for preemptively organising and running our sound and music on Friday at the Book Week Costume Parade. Thank you to Mrs Wright-Baker for organising the livestream as an additional and exciting element for Book Week. Thank you to Mrs Lilley and Mrs Whalan for emceeing our costume parade. Thank you to our entire Reader’s Theatre cast who sacrificed their time (and dignity) for the joy and excitement of our students. Thank you to all the teachers who took on the many tasks and activities of Book Week.
We were fortunate enough to share the final day of our Book Week with Grandparents Day. Not only did it allow us to show our school on a day of celebration, but it also allowed us to share the multi-generational joy of reading.
Finally, thank you to the parents for organising, building and crafting amazing costumes. The kids looked spectacular and were so excited to share which book they were from. Thank you for all contributions to the Book Fair. Not only were 15 new books donated to the library, enough money was raised to purchase over 100 new books for the library. New books create so much excitement and incentive for our kids to read. Your contribution has not only helped your own child gain access to new books, it has given new books to every student in the school.

Stage 2 Camp
On Monday and Tuesday our Year 3 and 4 students headed off on a two day adventure to Cru Lake Mac. They enjoyed activities structured around outdoor education including, fishing, canoeing, rock climbing, navigating obstacle courses and exploring a maze. God blessed them with beautiful weather for these great experiences and the students also had the opportunity to participate in Devotions and engage in beautiful worship sessions. For some of our students this was the first experience that they have had staying away from home overnight and we are so proud of the way in which they used our school values of courage and initiative to embrace challenges and grow from the experience. Thank you to Mr Thompson, Ms Pietsch, Mrs Patton, Mr Parraga, Mrs Garner, Miss Beikoff and Mrs Cook for caring for and supporting our students on the camp.

Cheer Los Angeles Rams Visit
On Wednesday our MCS Stars Cheer Team had the opportunity to meet the Los Angeles Rams Cheer Team who were visiting Australia from the USA. Our girls thoroughly enjoyed watching the Rams’ routine and were inspired by the different moves that they demonstrated. Our MCS Cheer Team has been training all year and are very excited to be representing the school at the CheerCon Battle of the Beaches competition in October. The Los Angeles Rams have given our team lots of encouragement to continue their training and to strive for excellence in everything they do.

Science Week Photos

Stage 2 HRIS Football Gala Day
Congratulations to our Stage 2 Boys and Girls Soccer Teams who represented the school yesterday at the HRIS Stage 2 Football Gala Day. Our Boys Team won 4 out of 5 games and made it to the quarter final coming 5th in the competition. For our girls it was the first time that many of them had played competitive football and they demonstrated great skill which was testimony to the hard work they had done in training. Thank you to Mr Parraga and Mr Thompson for training the teams and supporting them on the day.

Celebrating Year 5 Learning
Term 3 has been full of learning and experiences for Year 5. We started Week 1 with a chilly trip to Bathurst Goldfields resort. Students panned for gold, cooked campfire damper, explored the historical sites of Bathurst, competed in a very serious round of bowling, played games from the 1800’s, created mud bricks and so many other wonderful things.
During Science Week, Year 5 became budding scientists and had the joy of experimenting with mealworm choice chambers. Students were able to watch as the worms made a choice between light and dark spaces, or spaces with water or food. Year 5 also had the chance to explore the high school science labs. Students were able to use their knowledge of liquids and properties to solve which liquid was heaviest vs lightest using the fancy science equipment.
Additionally, Year 5 had a spectacular time during Book Week. Students were able to write their own choose your own adventure stories. Students showed creativity and developed unique stories and shared them with the grandparents during their visit to our classrooms on Friday. The Year 5 costumes were fabulous and allowed students to share their favourite books and characters.
