T3, Week 5
Congratulations to our Year 12 students who have now completed their Trial HSC examinations. They conducted themselves maturely, prepared well and approached them with positivity and a reliance on Jesus for peace and calmness.
It was a week full of many events in Secondary, from basketball, InterCru, Year 7 Orientation and a Cyber Safety Drama Performance.
InterCru @ Medowie
On Thursday afternoon, our Secondary students welcomed Hunter Christian School for InterCru—a time of fellowship and worship, where we gathered to encourage one another in our faith. Together, we explored Romans 8, a chapter that reminds us of the hope we have in Christ and the glorious future awaiting those who trust in Him. Students were challenged to live with a “now, but not yet” mindset—holding fast to the certainty of what Jesus has already accomplished for us and, as we eagerly await His return, carrying the good news and sharing the hope of the gospel with others.

Year 7 Orientation
This week marked an exciting milestone for our Year 6 students as they began their journey into Secondary school.
They enjoyed the opportunity to meet new friends, complete some standard testing, take part in fun games, connect with key staff members, and spend time with our student leaders.
A special thank you goes to our Year 7 and Year 10 leaders, who helped create a warm, welcoming, and fun-filled morning for our 2026 Year 7 students.

Cyber Safety Presentation
This week, our Junior Secondary students had the opportunity to connect through live theatre, exploring themes of friendship, cyberbullying, mental health, and the ever-changing challenges of technology.
Verbal Combat invites our young people to consider how they navigate the demands of school, family, peers, and social media. It also provided valuable reflection time, challenging them to ask: will I be a bystander, a follower, or a change-maker.
Parent and Student Technology Survey
Our school has been invited to participate in a study on best practice screen use led by Macquarie University, in collaboration with ten other NSW universities. The project aims to develop evidence-based guidelines and classroom resources that help students, teachers and families build healthy and effective technology habits for digital learning.
Parents/carers can complete a 10-15-minute anonymous questionnaire and/or, if they wish, give permission for their child to complete a student survey. Please join us in completing this survey to help protect our young people online.
Japanese Visitors at MCS
There was a buzzing atmosphere at MCS recently, as 38 Japanese students joined our classes for a special visit. Our students did an outstanding job hosting the new guests—guiding them around, explaining daily routines, and making sure everyone felt right at home. Charlize and Aishwarya enjoyed communicating with the Japanese students, while Rachel and Caroline savoured the delicious food shared by our visitors. Meanwhile, Lewis and Danny shed some light on typical Australian slang like “G’day,” adding a fun local twist to the experience. Visits to Primary classrooms were a highlight for everyone, with enthusiastic participation in interactive class games.
Despite language barriers, students connected through translators, sharing experiences and building friendships. When asked what they enjoyed most about MCS, the Japanese students eagerly said they loved “learning English” and were fascinated by “the animals in the Agriculture area.” Some even expressed a desire to stay in Australia longer! Year 10 students said “friendships can be formed despite the language barrier”.
