T1, Week 6

Elevate Study Skills

This week, Elevate visited MCS to equip our secondary students with the most well-researched strategies for studying, revising, and memorising effectively.

Throughout the day, each year group participated in a session led by young university students, who shared the most effective study techniques.

Over the rest of this term CareGroup teachers will be expanding on these skills by providing the students with follow-up activities as they begin to embed these practices.

Families are encouraged to also continue these conversations at home to help these skills become well refined.

Learning in Secondary

Learning in Secondary has been full of opportunities for our students to become creative, imagine and design. This week, Year 7 Visual Arts students created Picasso-inspired Cubist self-portraits using complementary colours. Come along and have a look at their inspiring displays in the Reception area of the Administration building.

The task “presented a different point of view and wasn’t about being perfect, allowing for different colours.” - Asher

Morgan liked that it was abstract, saying, “If I made a mistake, I could still make it look good or even better.”

Hamish enjoyed the collaborative aspect, sharing, “I liked that while working on it, I could talk to my friends and discuss the work to make it better.”
