T1, Week 4

Chapel

Our Chapel this week was introduced and organised by our Year 9 students, Lydia and Dylan. What a joy they were! Trying something new, stepping out and encouraging the Secondary teenagers to be courageous!

Mr Weeks shared a thought-provoking definition of biblical joy from John Piper:

“A good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, as He causes us to see the beauty of Christ in the word and in the world.”

As a community, we reflected on key questions: Can we experience joy at all times? Is joy a choice? How does joy differ from happiness?

Through our discussion, we discovered that family, friends, food, and faith bring us the deepest joy. We also wrestled with the reality that joy can exist even during trials and challenges. Ultimately, we were reminded that true, everlasting joy comes through Jesus. Knowing that He came to serve, seek, and save us fills our hearts with hope, and joy that endures through a personal relationship with Him.

Year 12 Drama Students Inspired by Live Performances

This past week, our Year 12 Drama students had the incredible opportunity to experience one of their set texts, Fan Girls, live at the Belvoir Theatre in Sydney. Seeing the play performed on stage provided them with valuable insights into character, staging, and theatrical techniques.

In addition to Fan Girls, students attended OnSTAGE, a showcase of exemplary Band 6 Drama performances, featuring both group and individual pieces. They were also able to explore a range of outstanding Individual Projects, including costume and set designs, program and marketing concepts, and other creative works.

It was an inspiring and enriching experience, giving our students a firsthand look at the high calibre of drama performances and projects at an HSC level.
