T4, Week 6

Prep Portfolio Presentations

Congratulations to all our Prep students who were presented with their Learning Portfolios over the last two weeks. We spent a lovely time with the Prep students and their families being entertained by them singing My Light House and sharing some of their beautiful work with us. We wish our Prep students all of God’s blessings as they move into Kindergarten next year.

Primary End of Year Celebration Day

What an amazing year we have had together in our Primary Department! It has been wonderful to see our students grow in all areas of their development academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. In order to celebrate this great year that we have had together we have many exciting activities planned for the last day of the school year, Wednesday, 4th December. On this day our students will be involved in inflatable relay activities, water games, class parties and a Christmas movie. Details for the day are below:

When: Wednesday, 4th December

Time: 8:50am - 3:10pm

Wear: Casual play clothes that students can be involved in physical activity in. Shoulders should be covered, runners should be worn for foot protection.

Bring: Swimmers, rashy, towel, broad-brim hat, thongs/crocs and sunscreen for water play.

Secret Santa: Please return your child’s Secret Santa snack and drink for their class party by Friday, 29th November and place it under their class Christmas tree.

Christmas at MCS

We are excited to begin celebrating the birth of Christ at MCS. You will have noticed how beautifully decorated the office is and our students are busy learning about the birth of Jesus during their class Devotions and Biblical Studies lessons. This is a very exciting time of the year and we have many special events planned to celebrate both Christmas and a wonderful year of school together. These events will take place in Week 8 including our:

  • Christmas Chapel and Markets on Monday, 2nd December

  • End of Year Celebration Service on Tuesday, 3rd December and our

  • Primary End of Year Fun Day on Wednesday, 4th December

More information about these events will be sent soon. In order for our students to finish 2024 well, we are encouraging them to stay focused and work hard on their academic program until the end of Week 7.  To assist with this we request that students do not bring candy canes or sweet treats to school to share with their friends or class until Wednesday, 4th December when the students will have class parties and the opportunity to enjoy these trimmings. Students are welcome to write and exchange Christmas cards with their friends at school but we request that the giving of gifts to friends be done outside of school time. This is to ensure that no child feels left out and the end of the year is special for everyone.

2025 Primary Classes

As we approach the end of  Term 4 many students and their families are beginning to think about class placements for 2025. The development of classes for the new year is a very large and complex task that is taken very seriously by our Primary staff. A great deal of prayer and discussion amongst the teaching staff goes into which class students are placed. In making these decisions we consider the needs of all students and aim to place each student with at least one child that they have a strong connection with so that they can begin the new school year feeling comfortable. We request that parents trust our professional judgement and know that we will carefully place their child where we believe their needs will be best met. We are blessed with a very professional and talented Primary teaching team and no matter what class your child is placed in you can be confident that they have a dedicated teacher and they will be ‘Well Known, Well Loved and Well Taught’. 2025 Primary classes will be communicated to parents during the week ending 17th January, 2025.

Primary Assembly and Chapel

Primary Chapel is held on Friday during odd weeks of the term and Primary Assembly is held on even weeks. Parents are warmly invited to both Chapel and Assembly which are held in The Lighthouse beginning at 2:15pm.

Please note: Due to the constraints of the size of the Overflow Church our Week 6 Primary Awards will be presented at Monday Morning Lines in Week 7, Monday, 25th November.
