T3, Week 1
NAIDOC Week
Welcome to Term 3! It has been so lovely to see all our students return to school happy and enthusiastic to begin with their Term 3 learning! We have started the term celebrating Indigenous culture during NAIDOC Week. Our Primary students spent Period 4 and 5 on Wednesday engaging in learning experiences structured around Indigenous culture. These learning experiences ranged from playing Indigenous games, participating in Indigenous art and craft and cooking Indigenous food. Thank you to Mrs Patton and Ms Pietsch for organising such a great time of learning for our Primary students.

Stage 3 Canberra Camp

During Term 2, Week 9 our Stage 3 students experienced a fantastic time in our Nation’s Capital. They explored the Australian Institute of Sport, the National Museum, Mount Ainslie, the Museum of Democracy, the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, Questacon and the National Zoo and Aquarium. These great learning experiences are described by our students below:
"Best camp ever! One of my favourite things about Canberra was going on the giant seven metre slide at Questacon. Another experience I enjoyed was visiting the AIS because we got to look at some of the places where the athletes and Olympians train. What I learnt, while away from my family, was that even though I was nervous I pushed through and had an awesome time."
Lucy
"If I had to write about all the things I loved about camp, I'd still be writing until next February! I had a lot of fun over the three days, however, the standout activity was going to Parliament House. Did you know the elected government of state representatives overrule in numbers compared to the opposition and crossbench combined? I had such a fun experience with my cabin, my friends, and the legendary bus driver playing the best songs imaginable. It was the best Canberra Camp ever."
Jordan
"I loved Camp! My favourite thing we did was going to Questacon because we had a lot of fun and we got to see real lightning and we got to go on a massive slide. I got to learn about Parliament and I didn't know there was an 'old' Parliament House and it was turned into a museum. Going on camp with my friends was amazing and awesome and I can't wait for our next camp."

Kindergarten Excursion to Hunter Valley Wildlife Park
During Term 2, Week 9 Kindergarten visited the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park as part of their Integrated studies about Australian Animals. A great time was had by all as they visited each animal home and examined the important features of their habitat. The students were also challenged to consider our responsibility to take care of the special animals that God has placed in Australia.

Wellbeing Wednesday
Our Primary students had a fabulous time exploring different Wellbeing strategies during Wellbeing Wednesday on the last Wednesday of Term 2. It was lovely to see so many of our students come dressed in Winter warmers to raise funds for Ms Pietsch’s mission trip to Rwanda. A huge thank you goes to all our families who donated cakes, biscuits and slices for our fundraiser cake stall. We are very excited to announce that we raised $1,155.10 to assist teachers and students in Rwanda.

The Book Week Costume Parade will take place on Thursday 22nd August from 9.30 - 10.30am. Primary students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and parents are welcome to watch the procession.
