T2, Week 1

Welcome to Term 2! It was lovely to see all our students return to school on Monday refreshed from the school holidays and keen and ready to learn. We have spent time reflecting on the musical with the students and celebrating their achievements and all that they learned through stretching themselves and growing from participating in such an amazing performance. We are so proud of each and everyone of our students and what they achieved from this opportunity! A big thank you goes to all of the parents who volunteered to help with the musical as well as all of the MCS staff who worked so hard to make this fantastic performance possible.

Kindergarten Reading Information Night

We love seeing our students grow in their learning and Kindergarten is a particularly exciting time as our students begin to read and write at a rapid pace. It was wonderful to have so many Kindergarten parents join us on Wednesday night to hear all about the best ways to help our children learn to read. We look forward to partnering with you for the rest of the year while we are on this amazing learning journey together. A big thank you goes to Mr Brett Allen and Mrs Laura Lilley for organising the evening and sharing your knowledge with us.

Technology Update

A document detailing technology happenings was released to Kinder to Year 2 families through the Sentral Parent App at the end of Term 1. This document outlines the setup process for devices and the apps and subscriptions relevant to the K-2 cohort. While the information on the Seesaw App is not applicable to the Year 3 to 6 Grades and some of the suggested iPad Settings may not be relevant to older and more capable students, the document is linked below for any interested K-6 Families to access so that they may understand the process the iPads have undergone during Term 1.

Alternatively, you can access the Technology Update Document from this link.

K-2 Infants Gymnastics Program

Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students will all be involved in a Gymnastics Program each Thursday that will run from Week 2 (Thursday 9th May) until Week 9 (Thursday 27th June) during Term 2.

Students will walk to and from the Overflow Church (beside MCS) for their Gymnastic sessions and will be instructed in the essential and correct skills by a qualified gymnastics coach to allow them to fully engage in the program to gain the most from their experiences.

The Term 2 Gymnastics Program is part of our Physical Education curriculum and all students are required to participate. No additional equipment is required by students and the cost is covered by MCS.

Yours in ‘terrific tumbling and judicious jumping’.

Primary Assembly and Chapel

With the conclusion of the musical we will return to our usual cycle of Primary Chapel being held on Friday on odd weeks of the term and Primary Assembly being held on even weeks of the term. Primary Awards will be presented at Assembly to students who have performed in an outstanding way academically or have been serving the MCS Community, and classes will take it in turns to share some of the excellent work they have been doing in class with the rest of the school community. Parents are warmly invited to both Chapel and Assembly which will be held in The Lighthouse beginning at 2:15pm.
