T4, Week 3
It was so encouraging to begin Week 3 at Primary lines reviewing Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
The students learned Psalm 23 in 2022 in order to have the opportunity to reflect on the fact that God loves them so much and He is their shepherd. He takes care of them in every situation. We encourage our students to trust God and know that He is walking with them and caring for them. We highly value the process of memorising scripture at MCS. This gives our students the opportunity to hear God’s thoughts on different situations in life and then hide these words in their hearts where they can be remembered at the right occasion when they need to know God’s peace and guidance.
Stage 3 HRIS Basketball
Congratulations to our Stage 3 Basketball teams who have represented the school at the HRIS tournament on Wednesday, 25th October. Our teams have worked hard training for this event during lunch times throughout the year and this training paid off with them demonstrating excellence in their games in the competition. It is fantastic to see our students using the gifts and talents that God has given them to bring glory to Him. Thank you to Mr Wenham who has worked hard to train these teams.

New Addition To Our Prep Team
We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming an additional teacher to our Prep program in 2024. Mrs Brooke Inwood will continue teaching on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Haley Garner will join the Prep team teaching on Thursday and Friday. Mrs Garner is an experienced teacher with a special interest in Early Childhood Education and we look forward to the great contribution that she will make to the care and education of our youngest students. Mrs Melissa Dew will also continue to teach in the Prep Program from Monday to Friday.
Medowie’s Got Talent Finals
It has been wonderful to see our students showcase their performing talents in the heats for Medowie’s Got Talent. The finals for this exciting event will take place next Friday, 3rd November at 1:40pm in the Lighthouse. Parents are most welcome to join us for this event. Please note that there will be no Primary Assembly on this day.
Year 6 Graduation
We warmly invite all parents of our Year 6 students to attend their special Graduation Assembly. This will take place on Thursday, 30th November (Week 8) from 9:30 - 11:30am. This event will begin with a whole school assembly to celebrate the journey that our Year 6 students have taken through the Primary School and will conclude with a special morning tea for the Year 6 students and their parents in the Staffroom. On Friday 1st, December the Year 6 students will then set off on an adventure to a mystery location in order to engage in some challenges and to celebrate their friendships and the conclusion of their Primary education. The location for this event is a secret but will be revealed to parents through the Parent Portal soon.
2024 Primary Classes
As we move into Term 4 many students and their families are beginning to think about class placements for 2024. The development of classes for the new year is a very large and complex task that is taken very seriously by our Primary staff. A great deal of prayer and discussion amongst the teaching staff goes into which class students are placed in. In making these decisions we consider the needs of all students and aim to place each student with at least one friend so that they can begin the new school year feeling comfortable. We request that parents trust our professional judgement and know that we will carefully place their child where we believe their needs will be best met. We are blessed with a very professional and talented Primary teaching team and no matter what class your child is placed in you can be confident that they have a dedicated teacher and they will be ‘Well Known, Well Loved and Well Taught’. 2024 Primary classes will be communicated to parents during the week beginning 15th January, 2024.
Summer Uniform
It has been lovely to see our students return to school dressed well in their Summer Uniform. Just a reminder that the Primary broad brim hat (not cap) must be worn everyday when students are outside the classroom. When wearing jewellery girls may wear a pair of plain studs or sleepers, a flat ring and a watch (smart watches should be set to school mode). Boys may wear a watch and have no visible piercings (clear studs can be worn). All collar length hair and longer whether a boy or girl should be neatly groomed and tied back for safety and hygiene using a blue, maroon or natural coloured hair tie. No makeup, artificial nails or nail polish should be worn with the school uniform at all. The link to our MCS Uniform policy can be found below. We thank parents for supporting the school in ensuring their child wears the correct uniform and takes pride in their neat and tidy presentation. Please refer to the Whole School News for information on how to order MCS uniforms.
