T2, Week 4
It has been an exciting week in our Primary Department with lots of sporting events and excursions taking place. Year 6 Solar Explorers - An Out of This World Journey
On Wednesday, Year 6 braved an early morning start to embark on a thrilling science excursion to Macquarie University in Sydney. Our adventure began with a bus ride to the Newcastle Interchange, followed by an exciting train journey and a ride up some giant escalators to reach the campus. Once there, we split into our class groups for an incredible, hands-on space program. A major highlight was the planetarium—a massive, darkened projection dome where students laid back peacefully to explore the solar system. We were treated to an immersive tour of the planets and the unique moons orbiting Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. We even watched an amazing simulation of the upcoming 2028 Sydney solar eclipse, learning exactly how the moon completely blocks the sun and why it is so important to look away when the bright light returns. Back in the classroom, the action continued as we put our engineering skills to the test, designing a "Mars Lander" to safely protect a Lego pilot during descent. After finishing the day with some fascinating real-world science experiments about frostbite, we all returned home tired but inspired. It was an unforgettable experience that we all really enjoyed.

Kindergarten Excursion To Hunter Valley Wild Life Park
Our Kindergarten students had a fabulous time exploring the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park on Thursday as they investigated animals and their habitats as part of their Integrated Unit. The students were delighted to see the animals in their natural environment and experienced the wonderful opportunity of feeding them. They were also blessed with unusually dry weather in the Hunter Valley making this special day possible despite rain in Medowie.

Celebrating Year 3 Learning
It has been an action-packed term for our Year 3 students, filled with hands-on discovery and creative growth! In the classroom, we’ve presented projects about "Life Cycles", been captivated by the story of Wandi and used its themes to inspire our own persuasive writing pieces. Our young scientists had a "messy" blast exploring states of matter by creating Oobleck, while in the world of numbers, everyone is continuing to sharpen their skills and grow in expertise through our EMP maths program. Beyond the bells, the energy remains high; whether it’s the dedication shown in musical rehearsals, the logic-building at coding camp, or the fast-paced action of futsal training, our students are truly thriving both in and out of the classroom.
