T3, Week 5

RoadWhyz

Our Stage 6 Learners will have the opportunity to attend The RoadWhyz Choice and Consequences Program on Friday 6th September. This program is a joint initiative of Lower Hunter Highway patrol, NSW Ambulance Service, and parents within the community. The program has been developed to assist learner drivers, P plate and full licence drivers (particularly young drivers aged 17 – 25) with the tools, skills, and knowledge needed to stay safe on our roads.

The program is facilitated by Michelle Davis, the program co-founder and coordinator. The core information is delivered by the highway patrol and ambulance representatives. Learner driver instructors and Westpac Rescue Helicopter service members provide further information. It is anticipated that the students will be able to take information from the experts and apply it to their driving experiences, helping them see they are in charge of the choices they make while driving and, as such, can control the consequences.

While confronting in parts, the RoadWhyz program is engaging and thought provoking, helping prepare students to be safe and responsible as they become increasingly active on the road. Ms Cromwell, Mrs Kamper and Mrs Neale will be present for the duration of the presentation.

Year 12 Trial Exams

Congratulations Year 12 on the completion of your Trial HSC Examinations! They are now back to normal school and with only 4 weeks left of formal schooling. We are looking forward to celebrating with you.

Wired Cyber Safety Presentation

Wired captured our Secondary students attention on Thursday with a thought provoking and educational drama about cyber bullying. The actors presented scenarios about cyber bullying and its impacts on young people including their mental health. They also addressed ways for teenagers to seek help. Students were encouraged to report incidents of cyber bullying to their parents, teachers and Police (where necessary). In general, students were encouraged to talk more and share things more openly with the adults in their lives.

Uniform

Thank you to all our parents who work hard to ensure that our students are wearing the correct school uniform each day. Please help us by ensuring that your young person is dressed in the correct uniform each day and that correct runners are worn with the MCS Sports Uniform. Hats are an essential part of our uniform and are required each and every day. Sunscreen is available in The Lighthouse Foyer for anyone who feels they need it. Please see the links below to the MCS Uniform Policy and the 2024 Uniform Days document.

The above information can be easily accessed from the Uniform Days link at the top of each week’s Whole School News.
