T3, Week 8

School Uniform Notice

As we head into the warmer months MCS is now in a shoulder period with our school uniform. Starting from Monday, 9th September students are permitted to wear either Summer or Winter MCS Uniform, depending on the weather. This will continue until the end of Term 3 with all students being expected to wear full Summer Uniform on the first day of Term 4. We continue to require students to wear the appropriate uniform for the day of the week as outlined in the 2024 Uniform Days document.

Please note that it is our expectation that students follow our approach to community through wearing the correct uniform well. Students who wear incorrect uniform without an email from a parent/guardian requesting their child be excused, on any particular day, will firstly receive a reminder, secondly receive a warning and finally receive a consequence for repeated non-compliance.

If an email from a parent/guardian is necessary, they should be sent to the child’s class teacher (Primary) and also to medowie@acc.edu.au (for all Primary and Secondary). Thank you for helping us maintain our uniform standard each day.

Staffing Changes

In preparation for the year ahead MCS is seeking new staff to join our community. Advertisements will be appearing on Seek and the School Website shortly. Some of these positions are new due to the growth we are experiencing however, some are also for members of our team who are moving into new opportunities at the end of this year.

Mr Brett Allen will be retiring at the end of the 2024 school year. Mr Allen has served here at MCS as our Infants Coordinator and Kindergarten Teacher. We have been blessed by his experience and passion for leading our youngest learners.

Mr Josh Matthews will be taking on a new challenge in 2025 as he and his family move to the north coast. We have been fortunate to have Mr Matthews with us teaching HSIE and Technology classes as well as being an integral member of our Chapel Team.

Defence News

Our Defence families combined with Medowie Public School Defence families and braved the weather last Friday evening for a Pizza party. We fired up the wood fired pizza ovens in the grounds of Overflow Church. Families enjoyed the smokey flavour of the wood fired pizzas and played some lawn games. Thanks to our parents who mastered the art of the wood ovens and to Overflow Church for the use of their facilities and for the support from Defence Bank, Woolworths and Coles.

MCS 2025 Student Leadership Process

This year we have been blessed with some outstanding student leaders in both Primary and Secondary. These students have been exemplary role models in all areas from their relationship with God, service to the school community and their application to academic study. As we look toward 2025 we are beginning our process to select leaders for the year ahead. Each year we review this process and this year we have simplified the leadership tasks required from candidates and we will notify them of the success of their application sooner. The process to apply to be a 2025 Student Leader at MCS will begin during Term 3, Week 6 and will involve the following:
