HRIS Netball Gala Day
Recently our Secondary Junior and Senior Rep Girls Netball Teams attended National Park for the HRIS Gala Day. At what is a very competitive field, our girls developed their teamwork and skills throughout the day coming home with some pleasing results. While the HRIS Gala Day is over, we are working on pursuing more opportunities for our girls to play representative netball throughout the year. Thank you to all of our students that made us so very proud, here at MCS.
NNSW Primary Futsal Teams
The Sports Department is delighted with the results of our Futsal/Soccer Development Programs being run during Wednesday Sport, and various times throughout the week. We have four teams representing Medowie Christian School from the Primary School, which is a very positive outcome for the future of Futsal at MCS.
On Monday 5th June, our two representative Junior Primary Futsal Teams will be heading off to the Northern New South Wales Futsal Competition involving schools from across our region. Depending on results on Monday, our Juniors could be joining our Senior Primary Teams on Tuesday 13th, in the next level of competition. A huge thank you to Mrs Urra and Mr Wenham for their commitment to supporting these teams. We hope all of our players enjoy this opportunity for a fun day out playing the game they love.
Week 7 Sport - Secondary Athletics
On Wednesday 7th June our Secondary students will venture down to Kindlebark Oval to participate in the final stage of our Athletics Carnival, the 400m track event. Students will enjoy a change of routine, participating in a variety of sporting activities managed by our wonderful sport staff, while students, in their age groups, compete.
Student permissions to attend this event have been covered by our ‘Off-site Permission Acceptance’ process allowing students to attend such events for PDHPE and/or Sport.
Opens Boys Basketball Squad 2023
Last week we conducted trials for students interested in being part of our Rep Basketball Teams. Congratulations to the following students that have been selected for the MCS Opens Boys Basketball ‘Squad’ for 2023:
Olive, Tyler, Tristan, Murray, Lewis, Joseph, Divan, Franswa, Cameron, Lachlan, Josh and Toby.
This Basketball ‘Squad’ will function to support the development of our representative team. It is from this ‘Squad’ that our representative teams will be selected, depending on the event, the number of students required, the nature of our opposition, and of course player attendance and performance. It is hoped that this will provide a healthy but competitive space for our students to demonstrate their commitment to training, skill development, respect and teamwork.
The Sport Department expects that this ‘Squad-based’ approach, which we will apply across other sporting teams selection processes in the future, will allow greater opportunity to increase skill levels amongst our students and be more able to deploy highly competitive sporting teams to various competitions throughout the year. Our first event for the year is next Thursday 8th June at Broadmeadow Basketball Stadium.
