Equestrian Update

At the recent State Championships, three of our Medowie Christian School Equestrian Team represented our school in equestrian. Elouise came in 7th in Preliminary Dressage and 6th in the Novice dressage. She also claimed Reserve champion in the Combined training.

Written by Elouise - Year 6

During the Term 2 holidays I was super duper excited for NSW state interschools championships because it was held at SIEC, which stands for Sydney International Equestrian Centre (where the 2000 Olympics was held). When we turned up, we camped in our horse float. I was in game mode, my focus was on me and my horse. We went for an amazing walk around the Olympic Cross Country course, which was an eye opener. The jumps were almost as big as my horse!!!

The next day my horse Sisco and I were out where the Olympics were held 23 yrs ago, riding the preliminary dressage class, it had over 30 kids in it. Sisco and I came 7th overall! Then the next day we did a higher level of dressage called Novice. Surprisingly we were better at the higher level and came 6th overall, which means I got a pink rosette! I was so tired but the week was not over yet. We woke up early on the 3rd day, dragging myself out of bed. On this day I competed in the 45cm combined training, which is a 45cm jump round with a dressage test. And you wouldn't believe it, Sisco and I jumped into 2nd/Reserve champion in NSW. UNBELIEVABLE...Sisco got loads of carrots and licorice. We're hoping that myself and my 2 other MCS equestrian team members (Annika and Indira) are selected to compete at Nationals and represent NSW. Annika and Indira also went really well. This is the best holiday I have ever had with my horse and family.

Elouise also won a certificate of dedication and hard work for her sport. She was recognised while she was helping the community and office people by helping to set up for the Presentation. Congratulations Elouise we are very proud of you!

Annika and Indira - Year 10 and Year 7

The girls had a great time and never thought in a million years that they would come away with anything as the competition is so tough. Both the girls are the youngest in their divisions however, Annika placed 1st + 5th and came 4th overall. Indira placed 3rd + 5th and came 3rd overall. Super proud of the horses - it was an exhausting couple of days!

All three girls are now waiting to hear if they have qualified for the Nationals in Victoria. Congratulations girls, we will all be praying for you in the week ahead.
