Sports News

Semester One has been an enormously exciting space for our students and particularly for our keen athletes with swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals taking place all within a ten week period. We have seen some wonderful progress and outstanding achievements across Primary and Secondary, with many students going on to represent our school at the Hunter Region Independent School competitions (HRIS). We will be finalising athletics over the next week as students complete high jump during PE lessons at school, and Secondary students complete the 400m track event during Wednesday Sport at Kindlebark Oval in Week 7. We will then be able to release the names of our HRIS Athletics Team and our Age Champions.

AICES Cross Country Championships

We would like to congratulate Megan K (Year 7) and Monica M (Year 11) for their standout performances at HRIS, and they are now venturing to Sydney for the AICES Cross Country Championships on 1st June. Congratulations from everyone here at MCS, and to every athlete that has represented our school. We are very proud of you all!

HRIS Representative Teams

The sporting calendar now shifts from school carnivals into representative opportunities, including forming school representative sporting teams for a range of competitive gala days. On Monday, our Stage 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to trial for our Opens Rep Basketball Team, and on Tuesday our girls will be heading into Newcastle to compete in the HRIS Netball Gala Day.

Futsal/Soccer Development

Medowie Christian School has been investing in the development of our Futsal and Soccer interests at our school, this year. We are delighted to be working with Melanie Urra to bring her expertise and knowledge into our sporting program. These development and coaching opportunities have been taking place during Wednesday Sport. Mel is not only coaching our futsal teams but also assisting with our secondary netball teams as well. Thanks to Melanie for your contribution to the lives of our athletes at Medowie.
