T4, Week 7

Bike Maintenance

Regular bike maintenance is very important for both performance but more importantly safety. Holidays are a good time to book bikes in for a qualified mechanic to do this service. At the very least a professional should do a check at least once a year or more depending on the amount the bike is ridden.

We would like all bikes to go home before the holidays as we will also be doing a cleanout of the sheds.

The bike sheds and container will be left open during school hours and half an hour before and after school. Feel free to head down and collect your child's bike.

Last Bike Club day will be next week on Wednesday 29th November 2023.

Permission Notes Due - The 2024 Thredbo Mountain Bike Excursion

Information for our 2024 Thredbo MTB Excursion was distributed to many of our students across Secondary School that are already part of our school’s mountain bike program. While this excursion is taking place next year, we will be finalising numbers for this event before the end of Term 4. Places are limited so please have these notes returned as soon as possible. As they say, ‘First in best dressed!’

If you would like more information about this event, or have not received a note home but believe your child might be eligible to attend, please reach out to Mr Greg Davis gregdavis@acc.edu.au.

Below is our Newsletter post from the Week 3 for details about our Thredbo Mountain Bike Excursions:

Thredbo Mountain Bike Excursion - 2024

Earlier in the year, Secondary students involved in the Medowie MTB Program were given the opportunity to attend our Mountain Bike Excursion to Thredbo. This was an outstanding five day excursion that saw many of our Secondary students challenge themselves across the mountainous trails of Thredbo and surrounding areas around Jindabyne. This trip will take place again early next year during Week 5 of Term 1, 2024.

Term 1 2023 - Our students and staff getting ready to leave for Thredbo.

This excursion to Thredbo requires students to have reached a reasonable level of mountain biking competence and confidence to be able to negotiate some very challenging mountain bike tracks. Safety is our number one priority and students interested in attending would need to be part of the MCS Mountain Bike Program during Wednesday Sport so that our experienced staff can teach some fundamental skills and regularly assess student skill levels.

If your child is part of the Mountain Bike Program and they are interested in attending next year, they would need to be available from Monday 26th February through to Friday 1st March, 2024 (Term 1, Week 5). Please note that this excursion would accrue an additional cost to parents and may require the hiring of a suitable mountain bike and protective equipment. Information will begin to be communicated to students at school next week before permission notes are distributed to interested students.

If your child thinks they might be interested, please give some consideration to the cost and timing of this excursion. As places are limited, a deposit will be required to secure a place for this event, before the end of Term 4.

Stay tuned for more Thredbo MTB news to come and enjoy the following photos from the previous Thredbo trip:
