T1, Week 8

Sport Quote of the Week

“I can only control my performance. If I do my best, then I can feel good at the end of the day”

- Michael Phelps

Sport is challenging. In sport, losing is common. No one wins every time. One of the great things about sport is the chance to learn from our mistakes and go again. Learning to dwell not on the result, but on the things we can control – our effort, our determination, our technique – is a really important lesson to learn for any athlete.

Here at MCS, we appreciate the chance to learn and grow. This time of year is full of young athletes trying to achieve for their house. Sometimes, our house doesn’t win. We are fine with that. What we love to see is the effort being put in by those brave enough to put themselves out there and compete for their house. We aren’t wrapped up in the wins and losses. It’s the effort we give that is the most satisfying thing about sport.

Cross Country Carnival

Our school Cross Country Carnival is happening on Wednesday of Week 9, the 25th of March. It will be held at school on our cross country loop. Primary will run their races in the middle session and Secondary will run their races both in the morning and afternoon sessions. We are looking forward to sharing this day with our community. Wear your house colours and be ready to cheer. The Lions are the defending champs, can they repeat or will they be run down by the competition.

Equestrian Update

This week we are meeting some of our youngest Equestrian Team members, our Kindergarten squad. Meet Aubrey, Savannah and Frankie and their ponies. They have been riding together as a trio and learning how to jump.

Some reflections from these students:

“I felt a bit nervous because I rode mum’s horse and he was big. His name is Gunny. I liked riding with the other girls and I liked Coach Emma’.

- By Frankie

“I love going to equestrian because I like to ride my pony Jelly Bean and it’s fun. I like seeing my friends each week and riding with Aubrey and Frankie”

- By Savannah

Our Primary and Secondary Squad have been riding together with Coach Emma as Coach Matt was away competing at the Australian Stock Horse Nationals held in Tamworth. They had a lot of fun and enjoyed riding until it was almost dark together.
