Equestrian News

This week the Equestrian Team News will be shared by Archie and Shea who competed alongside Olivia on Friday 9th May at the Scone Grammar School Horse Sports Day. It was a fabulous day in Scone and we actually saw the sun shining. We are so very proud of the achievements from each of our riders but even more so, by the way they smile together, encourage each other and cheer each other along.

Reflections by Archie

“I was so excited driving up with my favourite horse Bootsie. He is the most beautiful and kindest horse known to man. The biggest highlight of the day was being able to ride my horse with other boys. My favourite was Shea, another MCS Team rider. He inspires me to be a better rider every time I see him. I got to ride my horse all day long and it was amazing. The barrel racing was my favourite because Bootsie was so excited and wanted to go fast. Bootsie and I won 1st place in our hack class and our rider class but that didn’t compare to the barrel race!!!  I only started riding at the end of last year so I have learnt so much this year. I really enjoy having lessons each week with my coach and with Matt, our coach at MCS Equestrian. The latest skill I learnt is to go from a walk to canter. It has been a goal of mine for a few months. My horse is a great teacher because he is patient and kind with me so I give him lots of treats”.

Reflections by Shea

“My highlight from Scone Inter School Horse Sports was riding alongside Archie in the Junior Boy Championship Rider Class. It was really great to have two members from our school competing in the Champion class. I finished the day with a Champion Junior Boy Rider, first place in the Hack class and first place in the rider, 12 year old boys class. I got multiple ribbons across the sporting events. It was amazing to have Mrs Pietsch there to support us from the sidelines. I would also like to thank the MCS parents who took the time out of their day to come and support the school and competitors. I have really been enjoying the weekly equestrian coaching because it gives us the opportunity to bond as a team and as friends”.

Stage 3 HRIS Basketball

On Tuesday, our Stage 3 basketball teams had an opportunity to compete in the HRIS Basketball Tournament in Newcastle against other schools in the Hunter region. The girls played 5 games and the boys played 6 games. The girls had a great time working as a team, and we were able to develop their basketball skills across the day. The boys also worked well as a team, even when coming up against some very skilled teams, they were successful in winning one of their games. Both teams represented Medowie Christian School with pride and demonstrated great spirit on and off the court.
