Reflecting on 2023 and Looking Towards 2024
With 2023 drawing to a close it’s a good time to reflect on the successes MCS has had throughout the year with Sport.
Sport at MCS during 2023 has been celebrated through a variety of opportunities presented to our community of students. Our students have made us so proud this year, participating enthusiastically, playing fair, and encouraging other students. There has been a number of successes throughout the year in swimming, cross country, athletics, team-based sports at our HRIS Gala Days, Equestrian, Mountain Biking, our Cheer squad, AICES and CIS levels as well as a host of individual achievements that the children have enjoyed. Much of this has been covered in our weekly posts throughout the year, to keep you informed of these accomplishments. However, all this could not take place if it wasn’t for the many staff at MCS that go above and beyond every week, building programs, booking venues or planning adventures ahead of Wednesday Sport so that the children can have the most fun possible. Our thanks extends to our MCS families as well, who have contributed to sport this year, whether that be turning up to Gala Days, helping out at our carnivals, sending an encouraging word, bringing in resources and maintaining on-site resources such as our mountain bike track, or just encouraging their child to participate and do their very best each week.
We are excited for the opportunities available again during 2024, expanding on what we’ve accomplished this year. We are thrilled that the PDHPE and Sport Team at MCS is expanding and we can’t wait to work with your child to explore the many sporting opportunities available to them across Primary and Secondary School next year.
From everyone in the Sport Department at MCS, we hope you have a blessed, safe and happy Christmas break.
MTB Bike Shed Holiday Clean Out!
The school’s bike shed will get a thorough clean-out over the Christmas holidays. Any students that have stored their bike at school this term will need to take it home before the last day of Term 4, Wednesday 6th December.
We are already aware that there are quite a few bikes in storage that are no longer being used by students, for a range of reasons. If your child’s bike is left here over the holidays it is likely to get caught up in this group of unwanted bikes and will need to be disposed of. To assist with this process, there will be no mountain bike track use during Week 9 at school.
This is a great opportunity to perform some important bike maintenance in preparation for next year. Please note, even if your child anticipates being part of MTB again next year, we will not be storing bikes, so that we can reorganise these spaces.
We are looking forward to Mountain Biking (MTB) continuing at the beginning of next year, with a nice, clean storage area available for our students to use again.
A massive thank you to Mr Davis and Mr Parraga for investing so much of their time into our Mountain Bike Program at MCS.
