T1, Week 10

Celebration of Term 1 Learning

As Term 1 of 2025 starts to come to a close, we are reminded of all the great moments that our Secondary students have shared with us. This week we would like to celebrate these experiences and learning.

Art

In Stage 5 Visual Art, students have been exploring the chiaroscuro technique in photography, which uses strong contrasts between light and shadow to create dramatic and expressive images. By experimenting with lighting and composition, students are learning how this technique can add depth, mood and a sense of storytelling to their work. This hands-on approach helps them develop a deeper understanding of how light shapes art.

Agriculture

Secondary students learned about the Indian Runner Ducks and "The Life Cycle" in class and used their new knowledge to lead their own lesson with Primary students, teaching them all about the ducks and how to care for them. What a beautiful experience of learning and relationship building for the students bringing Primary and Secondary together.

New Facilities

This term we opened new facilities in our school. What a privilege to be able to occupy and benefit from our new Student Services, new Science Labs and new learning spaces in The Lighthouse.

Sports

We have achieved great things in the Sporting arena this term, with our Sports program kicking off for 2025. We have made personal best achievements, and built house spirit and camaraderie with our fellow students. Mountain Biking adventures are a weekly favourite and the Swimming Carnival and Cross Country Carnival were testaments to the sporting abilities of our community. Please see the Sport News section for more information and photos of Cross Country.

Excursions

We have had many excursions during the term and these are wonderful experience that assists students to bring classroom-based learning into 'real life'. These experiences are a highlight for students and staff alike, and provide deeper understandings of the content as well as build relationships between those who attend. This term we have sent students on excursions to Encore, Art Express and Cookabarra - just to name a few.

We are very thankful for the experiences Term 1 has afforded us including welcoming our new Year 7 students, who have settled so well into Secondary life (how good are wood-working and cooking classes?). We are grateful for our extra-curricular groups and the opportunities to learn an instrument, write a book, play in a Rock Band, understand the rules of Chess and learn to sing at VIBE. Forming a personal relationship with Jesus through Chapel, Bible Club, Chapel Band, InterCru and the sharing of God's Word through the Bible with one another have also been highlights.

Thank you to our young people who make the days enjoyable, fun, positive and uplifting.

We pray that your holiday will be one of making family memories, celebratory times with friends, meals shared with those you care about most and time to reflect upon what Jesus’ death and resurrection means for us - eternal life, eternal HOPE and JOY in an everlasting God.
