From the Classroom - Digging Around

This term Year 11 Ancient History has been participating in some archaeology by examining human remains (fake, of course) and associated items often found in these contexts. The students have had to carefully uncover the remains and artefacts in such a way as to cause minimal disturbance. Through close examination of the placement of the body and artefacts our learners had to postulate the likely burial practices of the community, as well as deduce what they can about the buried person. Since any archaeological excavation subsequently alters the remains and the site, they have had to construct detailed and carefully measured images using a 1 by 1 metre square.

  • How to establish a good routine for the night before

  • How to optimise exam-room performance

Every School Day Counts

I have been speaking with our Year 10 - 12 students recently about our most precious resource, time. Time is the one thing we can’t get more of and as a result the staff here at MCS are encouraging our young men and women to not waste a day. Did you know that for a Year 10 student who is looking to graduate in Year 12, 2025 there are 380 school days left? That Year 11 students have 220 school days and Year 12 have 55 days before they finish? In reality, this is not a lot of time and we desire to be able to get alongside our students each day to encourage them to be the young men and women God has called them to be. In order to help families working with young people who are finding it hard to get to school School Link has put together the following information for families.
