Leadership - A Developing Culture in Secondary
In our Secondary school, leadership is more than a role or a badge—it is a culture that empowers students to actively contribute to their community. It is seen as a calling rooted in service, integrity, and faith. A place where they can make a meaningful impact for Christ. Encouraging students to lead with compassion, humility, and courage helps them reflect Christ’s example while continually developing character and shaping who we are.
By nurturing leadership qualities in our students, we equip them to serve others, act with responsibility, and influence their communities for good. Leadership is not about seeking power but about living out God’s values, serving faithfully, and making a difference in the lives of those around us.
We would like to thank our Student Leaders this year, who have led with the approach of pointing others to Jesus, helping to foster a Secondary school community built on connection, kindness, and grace.
Next Gen Leadership Day
Our Year 12 2026 leaders, along with a group of Year 9 students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, attended the Next Gen event last week.
Throughout the Leadership Without a Label conference, they heard from inspirational speakers who highlighted the importance of setting and upholding values, shaping positive cultures, and practising self-discipline. Students took part in creative brainstorming activities with peers from other schools and were encouraged to consider what it truly means to step up as life-changing leaders.
Tony O’Rourke from World Vision spoke powerfully about Service Engagement and the call to action for the leaders of tomorrow. We were encouraged by our students who asked thoughtful, well-considered questions throughout the day, with several even invited to speak on the panel.

eSafety Commission and Safety Online
From 10 December 2025, certain social media platforms will no longer be permitted to allow Australian children under 16 to create or maintain an account.
To support families in understanding these changes, the eSafety Commission is offering information sessions for parents and carers. These 30-minute webinars will explain the new regulations, their purpose and what they mean for children’s access to social media. Families will also be able to gain tips and resources to support their child’s online safety and wellbeing through the transition.
REGISTER here if you would like to be informed further on how the eSafety Commission is providing safety for our young people.
We also have available the following short article from our partners at Happy Families written by Dr Justin Coulson where he shares how families can navigate this space with their children at home.
Week 8 Christmas Events
Mon 1st Dec - Christmas Chapel and Markets
Each year, we come together as a school to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It is a time spent remembering the good plan God has for us as He sent His one and only Son to dwell amongst us. Christmas Chapel will be followed by our Christmas Markets. Markets will be set up in the morning by our Primary and Secondary stall owners. We have many items for sale that our young people have created, designed and marketed. A handcrafted gift is a special way to show love to family and friends. Gifts will range from 50cents to $10, and Secondary students are to bring cash for their purchases.
Chapel Time: 10:00am
Dress: Christmas Mufti (students are to bring a gold coin donation for Compassion)
Markets: After Lunch
Bring: normal equipment for classes, with some lessons running as normal, recess, lunch, a hat, a drink bottle, cash for purchasing at the Christmas Markets.
Tues 2nd Dec - Presentation Day Assemblies
Our Secondary community will come together to celebrate their achievements for the year in our Secondary Presentation Assembly. Families are warmly invited to join us at this time.
Secondary School (Years 7 - 12)
Time: 9:30am - 11:00am
Location: The Lighthouse (MPC)
Dress: Formal Summer Uniform
Bring: Devices, card games, board games, sports equipment, recess, lunch, a hat, and a drink bottle.
Secondary students are welcome to leave school early on this day with their family, at the conclusion of the Primary Presentation at 1pm. If families are taking their children home, we ask that they be signed out at the Administration Office. If you would like your child to leave school with someone other than you as their parent, please email MCSstudentservices@acc.edu.au by 9am the morning of the presentation. Please be patient as we sign out multiple families at this time.
Wed 3rd Dec - Secondary Fun Day
Our Secondary Fun Day begins! Please see our Sentral Parent App for the location and plans for the different activities. Staff and Students will depart from MCS on buses at 9:30am and return to school approximately 2:30pm.
Wear: MCS Sports Uniform, sunshirt, hat, swimming bottoms (board shorts), enclosed footwear (can bring thongs/crocs/slides for the beach). Shirts and shorts must be worn when in and out of the water. Students may bring a change of clothes to wear at the beach so their school sports clothes remain dry for the trip home.
Bring: Towel, water bottle (multiple), food for recess, money for shop (ice blocks, cold drinks and lollies only)
The Secondary Staff will be blessing our young people by providing a hot chip lunch. We pray that our Secondary students enjoy the last school week of 2025 as we spend time together laughing, reflecting, celebrating and preparing to rest with family and friends.
The Secondary Team would like to wish all our families a Merry Christmas, a holiday full of special moments with friends and family, as we pause and be thankful for the birth of Jesus.
