T4, Week 5

Year 10 Camp and Transition to Senior Studies

Year 10 have had an exciting few days full of adventure and opportunities for learning. After a smooth departure followed by coach, train and ferry, they arrived at Cockatoo Island.

Day One included beautiful views of the Sydney Harbour, an HSC seminar covering Patterns of Study and goal setting for academics and wellbeing. A special dinner at Circular Quay was enjoyed by all, where they were joined by Mr Weeks and Mrs Neale.

Day Two was action-packed with an Amazing Race around Sydney after working out clues as a team. Later in the afternoon, students purchased items to cook their own meals and much fun was had by all! A debrief on how the challenges of the Amazing Race linked to the next two years of their schooling proved to be valuable, discussing facing challenges, resilience, determination, focus and how the HSC is a team sport where everyone achieves stronger results as a group.

Despite being a little weary, students enjoyed another ferry ride across Sydney and a day at Manly on Day Three. During this day, they were introduced to the possibilities of engaging in the MCS Tall Trees Academy in Stage 6.

MegaCru

Around 300 students from schools across the Central Coast, Newcastle, and the Hunter regions gathered this week for Mega Cru, a day of faith, fun, and friendship, hosted by Cru (Crusaders). The event brought together schools' Christian lunch clubs for a time of worship, games, and inspiring messages.

Amazing worship sets were led by the Maitland Christian School Worship Team. The students were able to join together in vibrant praise and explore the day's theme from Hebrews: “Jesus is Better.”

MegaCru also featured students speaking about the word and sharing their testimonies. We were blessed by Tiana from our own school community, as she shared her testimony of faith.

The students enjoyed discussion groups and team games, all highlighting a greater connection in faith. Free snacks and giveaway T-shirts definitely added to the excitement!

MegaCru left our students feeling encouraged and eager to share their faith back at school.

Year 7 Invictus Challenge

As part of this year's Year 7 Invictus Award, students will be participating in an environmental initiative - Waste-Free Lunches Week. From Monday 17th November to Friday 21st November (Week 6), students are encouraged to pack their lunches and snacks in reusable containers, limiting the use of disposable plastics and wrappers.

The aim for the week is to reduce waste going to landfill, promote sustainability, and support healthy eating habits by choosing fresh, whole foods over processed snacks.

To celebrate this initiative, on Wednesday, 19th November, students are invited to bring their waste-free lunches and snacks along with a picnic blanket to enjoy a picnic lunch together during CareGroup time. This will be a relaxed opportunity to spend time with friends and celebrate the end of the Invictus year together.

We look forward to celebrating this year with our Year 7 students as they near the end of their first year of Secondary school.
