T4, Week 3

Year 12 - Final Week of HSC!

As our 2025 Year 12 students complete their HSC examinations this week coming, we pause to celebrate this incredible milestone. The HSC is a journey that requires perseverance, dedication, and courage — and we commend each of our young adults for the effort, faith, and resilience they have shown throughout this year.

We give thanks to God for sustaining our Year 12s through the challenges and opportunities of their final school chapter. It has been encouraging to see the way they have encouraged one another, approached their studies with purpose, and trusted in God’s plan for their futures.

As they now step into a season of rest and new beginnings, we pray that they will know God’s peace and guidance in every decision ahead. Whether heading into further study, work, travel, or new adventures, may they continue to seek God’s wisdom, remember His promises, and live out their faith with confidence and joy.

Congratulations, Year 12 of 2025, and know you are always welcome at Medowie Christian School. We look forward to hearing of your successes and next steps.

Cyberbullying and the use of AI

As our young people begin to tire from a full year of learning activities, hobbies, examinations, part-time jobs, and just purely navigating being a young person in a dynamic and fast-paced world, we can often see an increase in unkind and unhelpful behaviours towards one another. This may include online bullying.

When teenagers receive hurtful messages online, it can often reflect deeper hurts within their friendships. As parents, discovering that your child has been the target of online negativity can be distressing. In these moments, it’s important to respond with calm, wisdom, and compassion.

Begin by creating a safe and open space for your child to share what has happened. Listen carefully to understand the full context, including any underlying tensions that may be contributing to the issue. Encourage your teen to reflect on how they can respond in a way that shows grace and integrity, rather than reacting in anger or hurt.

Together, discuss possible ways forward — both online and in person — and help your child choose an approach that aligns with their values and honours Christ. Deleting harmful messages, blocking negative influences, and seeking positive online spaces can be important steps toward restoring peace.

Continue to check in regularly and remind your child that their worth is not defined by others’ words, but by who they are in God’s eyes — deeply loved and valued.

With the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), online bullying can also be untraceable. Here are some tips for families from our Online Safety Hub:

If your young person shares that they are experiencing bullying, whether in person or online, we encourage you to reach out to their CareGroup teacher or Coordinator. By doing so, we can work together to ensure your child feels supported, heard, and cared for.
