T4, Week 2

Year 12 2026 Assessment Schedules

Year 12 students have now received their Assessment Schedules for their HSC year, indicating when their formal assessment tasks are to be held. This document also contains helpful information regarding what to do if they are unwell on or around a task due date and how to avoid malpractice ensuring their work is their own.

Year 10 Camp

Information regarding Year 10 Camp has now been published on Sentral for families to access. This exciting camp marks an important milestone for our Year 10 students as they conclude Stage 5 and prepare to transition into the Senior years of schooling.

This camp is designed to support students not only academically but personally — helping them strengthen relationships, develop leadership skills and reflect on the journey ahead as they begin to shape their goals for Senior School and beyond.

Students will spend time in the Sydney CBD and on Cockatoo Island, engaging in a program designed to build independence, teamwork and resilience while providing valuable opportunities for reflection and growth.

Stage 5 Examinations

As our Stage 5 students approach their end-of-year examinations in Weeks 4 and 5, this is an important time to begin preparing effectively and establishing strong study habits. These examinations provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned throughout the year and to practise the skills of organisation, focus and perseverance that will support them in future studies.

Below are some highly effective study techniques to help students prepare with confidence:

  • Create a quiet, organised and tidy study space: A clean and well-organised environment helps reduce distractions and increases focus. Encourage students to study in a consistent spot — ideally a desk or table with good lighting, minimal clutter and all necessary materials within reach.

  • Remove phones and other distractions: Mobile phones are one of the greatest barriers to sustained concentration. Placing the phone in another room or using a focus app can help students remain fully engaged during study sessions.

  • Use the Pomodoro Technique: This technique involves studying in short, focused intervals of 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break. After four “Pomodoros,” students take a longer break of between 15–30 minutes. This method helps maintain motivation and prevents burnout while encouraging productive bursts of concentration.

  • Practise active recall: Instead of simply re-reading notes or highlighting, students should actively engage with their learning by recalling information from memory. This technique has been proven to strengthen understanding and long-term retention. Some helpful active recall strategies include:

    • Creating and reviewing flashcards (digital or paper-based)

    • Summarising content in Google Sheets or Slides to test recall

    • Completing past examination papers or practice questions under timed conditions

    • Using the ‘blurting’ method - writing down everything you know about a topic, then reviewing to identify knowledge gaps

    • Teaching someone else — explaining concepts aloud strengthens understanding

    • Turning notes into questions and quizzing yourself

Encouraging students to start early and create a realistic study timetable that balances revision, rest, and recreation can make a significant difference in their readiness and confidence.

Families can support by checking in regularly, offering encouragement, and helping ensure a healthy routine that includes sleep, nutrition and breaks.

We pray for our students as they enter this period of preparation — that they would find focus, peace, and perseverance as they continue to show their learning from the year.
