Year 7 Orientation Reflections
Earlier this term, our prospective Year 7 students from MCS Primary and schools across the region took their first steps into Secondary school at the Year 7 Orientation morning. Ariella and Emily said they enjoyed reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, and making new friends. They described the placement test as ‘challenging but fun’, noting that the abstract boxes section was a highlight and that they particularly enjoyed ‘the challenge of different kinds of questions’. Both girls said they are excited for high school and look forward to rotating between different teachers and subjects such as Woodwork, Cooking, Visual Arts, and Mathematics. Hearing from current Year 7s was also encouraging, with Asher sharing that ‘the freedom in high school is fantastic’ and Mpilo advising them to ‘make sure they sign up for soccer as their sport’.

Our Olympic Change Maker
Callum had the opportunity to attend the Olympic Change Maker Conference this week, where he was inspired, encouraged and challenged on how to lead positive change in his community. He had the opportunity to meet and hear from a range of current Australian Olympic Team members at their National Forum with both Callum and Evangeline (Year 11) being recognised for the Olympic Change Maker Award.
One main takeaway that I got was to take every opportunity given to you into consideration, even if it may be difficult, just give it a go. It was also really empowering as a young person to be around so many other people who had other high-level sporting achievements, and just speaking to them and hearing what they were aspiring towards was inspiring for me too. Overall, it was an amazing day in Sydney and it was very inspiring to be with all the other people who attended.

Year 12 Concludes
Next week we say farewell and all the best to our Year 12’s of 2025.
As they enter these final weeks of their schooling journey, we give thanks to God for the gift that each of them has been to our community. It has been a joy and a privilege to watch them grow—not only in knowledge and skills, but also in character and faith. We have been blessed by their Godly leadership and encouragement.
As our Year 12’s of 2025 step into the next season, we trust that God goes before them, walking beside them, paving their way with both challenge and opportunities, growth and discovery.
We pray they go forward with courage, wisdom, and joy, leaning on His strength and shining His light wherever He leads them. May their lives be a testimony to His love and goodness.
Thank you, Year 12 of 2025, for the love, care, compassion and positivity you have showered on the Secondary students over your time at MCS.
