T3, Week 1

Welcome To Term 3

We would like to welcome all our families to Term 3!  It has been lovely catching up with all of you around the school this week and we are excited to work in partnership with you to see our students grow to be who God has called them to be. We started the term gathering at our Monday lines where we were reminded of our routines that help us to stay focused and engaged with our learning. We learned a new attention signal that our teachers will use to draw our attention to the task at hand. It is “3, 2, 1 FOCUS”. I encourage you to check in with your child and ask them what each letter in the acronym stands for. Miss Beikoff taught us the first part of our memory verse for the term and we look forward to learning and committing to memory Psalm 19: 7 -10  The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Celebrating Kindergarten Learning

What an incredible return to learning we have had in Kindergarten! We have hit the ground running with Sport, engaging with Athletics and Gymnastics. During Athletics lessons, we have been learning to throw a shot put, javelin and discus, as well as run fast and jump hurdles - you’d better believe the rain hasn’t slowed us down! This term we began gymnastics lessons, learning new ways to move our bodies with our  coaches. We were very good at gymnastics, the trickiest part was popping our socks and shoes back on at the end - we might need some at home practice with this skill.

Our learning has gone from strength to strength in the classroom! We are learning so many new things, challenging ourselves in Reading Groups and even looking at how simple machines function in our Integrated learning. We love learning in Kindergarten and our teachers are so glad to have us back!

Book Week and Grandparents Day

Book Week is coming! Book Week will be held this term from the 18th to the 22nd of August (Week 4). The theme of this year’s Book Week is Book an Adventure! The week will be filled with activities and challenges designed to instill your child with an excitement for reading and storytelling.

Our annual book fair will be held during Book Week and will be hosted by Scholastic. All money raised will go to purchasing more books for the school library. All students will be given a chance to shop at the book fair during school hours. Further details will be provided soon.

To cap off our week of fun, we will be having our dress-up day on Friday the 22nd of August. There will be a parade from 9.30 - 10.30am in the hall. Primary students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and parents are welcome to watch the procession.

As an added joy, the final day of Book Week and our dress up parade will coincide with Grandparents Day. All visiting grandparents are invited to attend the parade and continue on to our Primary open classrooms afterwards. More details will follow in future Newsletters.

I wish everyone a restful weekend with their families.
