T2, Week 4

Rainy Days

This week has been particularly challenging with persistent heavy rainfall, flooding, road closures, and periods of isolation affecting many in our community. We understand the difficulties these conditions have brought and want to extend our heartfelt prayers and well wishes to all families. We hope you are staying safe and dry during this time, and we’re thinking of those who have been impacted. We are looking forward to seeing you all next week.

God Bless,

Mrs T Wright Baker

Term Overviews

Please see the following Term 2 Overview documents which detail relevant information for your child’s class and how you can support the learning happening in their classrooms.

Each week we are excited to hear from inside our Primary classrooms and find out what is happening. Please enjoy this week’s instalment from Year 3…

Term 1 has been a busy and exciting time in Year 3! It has been wonderful to see students grow in confidence, build strong friendships and work together as a team. There have been many highlights, with students achieving personal bests and celebrating individual progress. A special milestone has been the issuing of handwriting 'L' and 'P' plates—many students are now proudly writing in pen across their English, Handwriting, and Sounds-Write books as they work toward earning their full pen licence.

Our Integrated Studies this semester explored ‘Australian Celebrations and Commemorations’, ‘Living Things’, and ‘Life Cycles’. Students enjoyed creating informative posters and presenting fact charts, showing just how much they’ve learned.

Each day begins with Literacy, including our Sounds-Write spelling program, responses to our class novel ‘Wandi’, and reading groups. We also complete writing and grammar tasks. Maths follows after recess, with a focus on number, place value, and times tables. Games like BUZZ and songs keep learning fun and memorable, while hands-on activities help students apply new concepts.

Afternoons are filled with a variety of engaging subjects such as Visual Arts, Integrated Studies, Sport, Library, STEM with Mr Walter, Music with Mrs Blatch, PD/H with Mr Hallett, and Biblical Studies with Mrs Collins. We’ve also been lucky to have the wonderful Miss Anway with us this term during her final teaching placement.

We’re excited for our upcoming excursion to the Australian Reptile Park and are already looking forward to next term’s Stage 2 CRU Camp at Lake Macquarie!
