T3, Week 3

Stage 2 Camp

Stage 2 began the week heading off to camp at CRU Lake Mac. A great time was had by all with students being challenged by participating in rock climbing, crawling through a challenge maze, obstacle courses, fishing and canoeing. The students also had the opportunity to go on a walk along the lake and learn about its geographical and historical features. It was fantastic to see our young students so excited to participate in this program and challenged to consider how much God loves them and what He has done to invite them into a relationship with Him.

Book Week

Book Week will be held this term in Week 4 (19th - 23rd of August). The theme of this year’s Book Week is Reading is Magical and will be filled with lots of fun activities. The Book Week Costume Parade will take place on Thursday 22nd August from 9.30 - 10.30am. Primary students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and parents are welcome to watch the procession.

We love the creativity and passion of our students, but will ask you to keep a couple things in mind when coming up with a costume. Book Week is a celebration of books, not movies or television. We would like children to carry a copy of the book they took inspiration from during the parade to help show the inspiration behind their costume and to celebrate their favourite books. Our costume parade is an expression of our love of literature and is not a competition. There will be no prizes awarded for the dress-up parade.

When choosing a costume please select one which is age, community and theme appropriate. The normal rules for out-of-uniform days apply. Children are encouraged to pick a beloved book from the school library. If you are unsure about a costume or if you have any further questions, please contact your child’s class teacher. Any student who does not wish to dress-up may come to school in their regular uniform.

We are looking forward to a fun week of literature exploration. The week will be filled with activities and challenges designed to instil in your child an excitement for reading and storytelling.

Book Week Book Fair

There will be a Book Fair held in the library during Book Week. Students will be able to preview the book fair on Monday and Tuesday and create a wish list of items they would like to purchase. Students will be able to buy items from the book fair on Thursday and Friday. M-W Prep students will be able to make purchases on Tuesday. Payment options are cash, EFTPOS, and using a Scholastic Pre-Payment Form. This form will be sent home with your child and gives the option of paying for book fair items online. The purchased items can be collected from the book fair once the completed form is presented. The form must be returned and items collected by Thursday at the latest. There are limited items at the book fair, however, if a pre-purchased item is sold out a replacement will be ordered.

Due to the Book Fair, normal library lessons will not be held during Week 4.
