T1, Week 6

Musical Program Photos and Dress Rehearsal

It has been a very exciting week in the Primary Department. On Tuesday all our students tried on their musical costumes and had their photos taken to appear in the musical Program. Once they had all posed so beautifully for the camera we did a full run through of the show. It was lovely to see so many beautiful sea creatures wandering around the school and to see everyone’s hard work beginning to pay off. Our students have also been busy creating many under the sea artworks that will be displayed during our musical performances. It is lovely to see our students using the amazing talents that God has given them to bring glory to Him.

Please see Music News for all important updates.

Primary Camps in 2024

As I reflect on my Primary School education (back in the 1980s I confess) some of my greatest memories are the camps that I was able to attend. I was blessed to have several opportunities to explore parts of the world outside of my day-to-day experience and have the school curriculum come alive for me. There are so many benefits that students experience from participating in school camps. Nothing brings the school curriculum to life more than a camp or excursion that takes students right to the place that they are currently learning about in their Integrated Units.

We are blessed at MCS to be able to offer our students camp experiences every year beginning in Stage 2. In 2024, Year 3 and Year 4 will attend an outdoor education camp at Cru Lake Macquarie in Term 3. This one night camp is part of their Personal Development and Health studies and will give the students the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities such as canoeing, fishing, team challenges and hiking and is a great opportunity to experience a short camp before moving into Stage 3.

Our Year 5 and 6 students (Stage 3) will be heading to Canberra at the end of Term 2 where, as part of their Integrated studies. These camps are exciting opportunities for our students and I encourage you to be talking to them about these camps and the great learning and experiences that they will have when they participate.

Ball Games at School

In our Primary Department we love our students being active and engaging in sport during their break times. We have a good selection of sport equipment including soccer balls, footballs and tennis balls that our students are able to borrow. In order to promote positive social interactions during sport games we request that students do not bring their own soccer, football or tennis balls from home.
