T3, Week 6
Book Week
It has been an exciting time in our Primary Department this week as we have celebrated all things books with our students during Book Week. Many of our classrooms have beautiful Symphony of Stories displays in their windows and our students have enjoyed visiting the Book Fair and purchasing some interesting new books. Our Monday - Wednesday Prep students entertained our Kindergarten students with a sneak peak Book Parade on Tuesday and we all enjoyed engaging with the Perform Education Something Special live stream where some of the short listed stories were acted out for our enjoyment. A huge thank you goes to Dr Bignill for organising such a wonderful celebration of children’s literature.

Stage 3 HRIS Football Gala Day
Congratulations to our Stage 3 Boys and Girls Soccer teams who represented MCS at the HRIS Stage 3 Football Gala Day on Tuesday, 25th August at Maitland Park. There was some very tight competition and our students achieved success in many of their games. Thank you to Mr Pullen for training the teams and to Mrs Baker for helping with supervision on the day. We look forward to seeing how our Stage 2 Soccer teams perform next Thursday.

Celebrating Year 4 Learning
The anticipation is building in Year 4 as our students put on their detective hats and investigate the book ‘200 Minutes of Danger’ by Jack Heath. Ten parallel plots, ten dangerous situations, ten brave kids, 20 minutes to escape!
Year 4 is also on a mission to discover the power of forces, both contact and noncontact forces. Experimenting with magnets was a highlight. From hypothesising and testing to recording their discoveries, the classroom is buzzing with action. They put magnets to the ultimate test! Testing which materials are magnetic and if magnets work through glass, desks or even water? Students have also researched push, pull and twisting forces.
In Drama, we are exploring story telling through mime and the fascinating history of masks. Most lessons begin with a group warm up mime activity that gets everyone smiling and giggling. Each student is crafting their own unique mask and perfecting their silent storytelling through a short mime performance.
