T2, Week 6

For King and Country Concert

Chapel Band and lots of our other school community members had some hoarse voices by 10:30pm but nonetheless they had an amazing night on Saturday June 1st at the For King and Country concert. It was a fantastic show, with students enthralled with the theatrics (including the band members jumping around and from scaffolding!), continually changing instrumentation, band members changing instruments throughout the show and roaming through the audience, spectacular use of lighting and digital screens, and audience participation.  We were reminded to choose JOY in Jesus, even in the tough times.

If you were interested in seeing the backstory of this band, their movie Unsung Hero is currently in local cinemas. Here’s one of the movie trailers:

Some student comments from the evening:

“My favourite song was Burn The Ships. I think the sound and lighting was really good … all the flashes made me dizzy!  I was reminded to be a better Christian and to try my hardest in everyday life, not counting the fears that have been spoken to me.”

“It was very good. The lighting was excellent, and it was really cool how it (the lighting) was in time with the drums. They used lots of unique instruments like the megaphone and cellos, that maybe we could use occasionally in chapel band.”

“The whole concert was very exciting and enjoyable. The lighting was awesome and I liked how every one of their musicians put in so much energy and effort. I especially enjoyed the way they performed the song Amen, and I enjoyed singing and clapping along in Joy.  Going to For King And Country was a night to remember!”

“I liked all of their songs, but my 2 favourites were Proof Of Your Love and Together. I also loved the theatrics of Little Drummer Boy - especially watching the drumming silhouettes behind the curtains, and when the curtain dropped it was so cool to keep watching them drum. I also admired the fact that they sounded exactly the same as they did in their studio recordings. So many artists sound different live, but For King & Country sounded extremely similar.”

“I really liked how everyone played a different instrument every now and again. The lighting was very good and I was very impressed at the sound desk we could see from our seats.”

For King and Country was absolutely amazing. The lighting and production, along with the atmosphere, was really good. My favourite song was It’s Not Over Yet. Having the different parts in the night where we would listen to testimonies and stories from different parts of their life gave it a different feel. All up it was amazing and drove me close to God.”

"My favourite part and song would have had to be the songs ‘God Only Knows’ and ‘Joy’ as they encouraged everyone to jump, and let God speak through them. In the song ‘Joy’ the lighting was incredible, with different colours going anywhere and everywhere in the place we were in."
