T2, Week 1

ree

Finding Nemo Jr.

has headed off into the East Australian Current...

Congratulations to all performers on contributing to a fantastic event in our school calendar! This week each primary class has met and debriefed about their Finding Nemo Jr Experience. Your children have had an overwhelmingly positive response and have learnt and grown in not only their singing, dance and drama skills (some of your children were singing harmonies and part songs, as well as remembering the choreography, staging locations and actions!!), but in the way they have assisted and prompted each other, demonstrated patience and love, and worked as part of a team to progress towards the greater goal - our musical on stage! What great work!  Be sure to check out a sample of their reflections below.

Student Reflections

The students were asked the following questions and in the tables below you can read their responses:

1. What was your favourite part of Finding Nemo Jr?

The different and unique makeups because they were colourful.

Isla 5/6P

I got to show my parents my acting skills. When the whole thing was over, I got to eat McDonald’s!

Fergus 5/6P

We got to work as a team and we had fun on stage. The waiting room for our group was fun because we got to play UNO!

Rhishov 5/6P

When Bruce throws his shirt and hit someone!

Beau 5/6P

I liked performing on stage and seeing my family afterwards.

Lucille 5/6P

The Tank Gang because they were encouraging to Nemo.

Sophia 5/6P

The Shark performance and jokes were good.

Zac 5/6W

My favourite thing was how everyone came together and helped, and it was fun.

Caitlyn 5/6W

I loved how everyone tried their best for the musical and it turned out amazing.

Jasminder 5/6W

I loved our costumes!

Penelope 5/6W

I loved the turtle bit. I loved how it brought me excitement and joy. I smiled every time it came on.

Layla 5/6W

I liked the Turtle intermission dance because it was funny, and I liked staying up late with my friends.

Charlize 5/6N

My favourite part was the Tank Gang song because it is catchy. Lily 5/6N

I got a high five from Nigel! Plus the seagulls screaming ‘Mine!’.

Angelina 5/6N

My favourite part was when all the main cast got to stay in the music room. I have never done it before.

Georgie 3/4R

The seagulls!

Stage 1

Dory’s Dance - La la la la la.

Alexis 3/4Pi

Queen Of The Waves - we got to dance behind the curtain.

Molly 3/4Pi

My favourite part was when we all worked as a team. We wowed the crowd.

Mia 3/4Pi

The workout Nigel did. It was fun.

Charlotte 3/4Pi

I liked seeing all the other actors and their parts. I also liked Queen Of The Waves. The music was nice. I also liked going on stage with a big crowd. Performing in the dark was fun.

Charlie 3/4Pi

We got to work together.

Tyler 3/4Pi

When the people saw us because I was nervous.

Riley 3/4Pa

Squirt (intentionally) fell over and it made me laugh.

Kyson 3/4Pa

I love when we performed and I loved the sharks. They were amazing.

Birdie 3/4Pa

Getting to see all the people have a go.

Deegan 3/4Pa

2. Name one obstacle you encountered and how you overcame it.

Keeping track of our scenes and watching who was getting their mic on so we didn’t miss our parts.

Ebony  5/6P

At first, I didn’t enjoy it but then I really started to enjoy it!

Hudson  5/6W

The seagulls - because every time we were about to go on stage, the seagulls would rush through.

Katie  5/6W

There were a lot of people on stage and I couldn't get past them. They were in our way, but in the end we got there.

Zahlia  5/6W

I learnt to listen to the teachers and trust the process to get our Moonfish shapes right.

Asher  5/6N

One obstacle I had was controlling myself to be quiet backstage. I listened to the teachers and focussed on my parts.

Eadie  5/6N

Being new to the school, everyone else already half knew the song but I didn’t know anything. I dedicated myself to learning the dance and I’m proud that I didn’t mess up.

Josiah  5/6N

I was getting nervous on stage but I overcame it by just looking at the lights and pretending that no-one was in the crowd.

Brody  5/6N

The Turtle Dance was hard but I kept practising it and I got better.

Henry  3/4Pi

I was nervous because I was in the front row. I overcame it by thinking I can do this and my friends are with me.

Maya 3/4Pi

Someone was in the way and I asked them to move and I fixed the problem.

Shervai  3/4Pa

3. Describe a moment when you learned something new.

I learnt how to use a Moonfish puppet and make the Opera House, EAC and the arrow shapes.

Emily  5/6P

I learnt to dance, to sing and to stay concentrating while on stage.

Tyler  5/6P

I learned how to improve on the spot.

Charlize  5/6P

I learned the shark dance. At first it was hard, then it became easy.

Hudson  5/6W

I learned that musicals can be fun and bring people closer together.

Max  5/6W

Practising makes it look better.

Eli 5/6W

Everyone somehow fitted onto the stage for bows!

Grayson  5/6W

How far a loved one would go to see you.

Lily  5/6N

When you make a mistake, you can’t go back and fix it, you just have to adjust.

Aditya  5/6N

I learnt how to get changed quickly and to be in the right place at the right time. I also learned that I could stand up in front of a crowd and sing by myself.

Eden 3/4R

I learnt that being on stage is not as bad as I thought.

Hannah  3/4Pi

Don’t go in water when bleeding and when sharks are around!

Jediah  3/4Pi

I learnt we needed to be quiet in the wings because they (the audience) can hear us.

Chantima  3/4Pa

4. What part of your work are you most proud of?

I was most proud of completing the show with no mistakes. I am also proud of how I had a bent cane but I kept going.

Mpilo  5/6P

Learning my line was pretty easy!  I loved my line and I hope the crowd loved it too!

Tobias  5/6P

I was proud that we could get the preps into the circle and out again because it was hard to get them to move.

Alice  5/6W

The Moonfish shapes were hard but we nailed it in the end.

Archie  5/6W

Getting a lead part in the musical and doing the last performance even though I was tired.

Katie  5/6W

I was proud that I took a deep breath and did my job even though I’m scared of big crowds.

Jordan  5/6N

Being extra brave to get on stage to see everybody.

Gemma  3/4R

I’m most proud of how well I did the dance and got on stage quietly.

Mia  3/4R

I’m proud of how I tried my best and how I remembered all my lines.

Hailey  3/4R

Just performing and getting up there in front of people that I didn't know.

Ayva 3/4R

I’m proud of how I learnt the ‘rip it, roll it’ part in the Turtles song.

Jackson  3/4R

Go with the Flow dance because you have to get into the point.

Illiana  3/4Pi

Learning the seagull poem.

Stage 1

I am most proud of facing my fears of performing on stage with a big crowd.

Charlie  3/4Pi

All of it!!! Because the musical is great.

Hudson  3/4Pi

I’m proud that my friends did good in the performance.

Viraaj 3/4Pa
