Book Week

Book Week is coming! Book Week will be held this term from Monday, 24th to Friday, 28th of August (Week 6). The theme of this year’s Book Week is Symphony of Stories! The week will be filled with activities and challenges designed to instill in your child an excitement for reading and storytelling.
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair will be held during Book Week and will be hosted by Scholastic. This year the Book Fair will be held in the new library space. All money raised will go to purchasing more books for the school library. All students will be given a chance to shop at the Book Fair during school hours.
During Monday and Tuesday, students will be able to preview the Book Fair and create a wishlist. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will be given time during class and at lunch to make purchases from the Book Fair. Some of our Prep students will be able to shop the Book Fair on Tuesday, as they will not be at school later in the week. The Book Fair will be open for parents on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 8.30 - 8.50am and on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3.10 - 3.45pm. The Book Fair will also be open after the Book Parade on Friday morning.
There are several payment options available for the Book Fair. Students and parents may use cash, EFTPOS, or prepay online. To prepay online use the back of the wishlist and present this wishlist with the receipt number and the amount paid filled out. The receipt number and amount paid must be presented as proof of payment.
Our Book Fair will also have a Wishing Wall featuring books we wish to have in our library. If you would like to contribute to our library, choose a book from the wall and it will be added to your purchases.
Book Parade
To cap off our week of fun, we will be having our dress-up day on Friday the 28th of August. There will be a Book Parade from 9.30 - 10.30am in The Lighthouse. Primary students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and parents and grandparents are welcome to watch the procession.
We love the creativity and passion of our students, but will ask you to keep a couple things in mind when coming up with a costume. Book Week is a celebration of books, not movies or television. We would like children to carry a copy of the book they took inspiration from during the parade to help show the inspiration behind their costume and to celebrate their favourite books.
Our Book Parade is an expression of our love of literature and is not a competition. There will be no prizes awarded for the Book Parade.
When choosing a costume please select one which is age, community and theme appropriate. The normal rules for out-of-uniform days apply. If you are unsure about a costume or if you have any further questions, please contact your child’s class teacher. Any student who does not wish to dress-up may come to school in their regular uniform.
Normal library lessons will not be held during Week 6, but will resume in Week 7.
Grandparents Day
As an added joy, the final day of Book Week and our Book Parade will coincide with Grandparents Day. All visiting grandparents visiting the Book Parade are invited to stay on for a picnic morning tea with their grandchild. Following this our Primary classrooms will be open for our grandparents to visit and to experience a taste of school life in 2026.
