BYOD Device buy backs
Having announced previously to our community, 2024 will see MCS moving to a Bring Your Own Device (Apple) environment with students from Kindergarten to Year 12 required to bring, care for and use their own Apple device for learning in the new year. Whilst we understand each family will approach this differently MCS wanted to ensure we assisted our families to make this transition where we could. Therefore we are offering families to buy back their child's current device as it comes, at the following price points:
Year Group | Device | Price |
Kinder - Yr 2 | iPad Mini | $244 |
Yr 3 - Yr 9 | iPad Air | $371 |
Yr 10 - Yr 12 | iPad Pro or MacBook Air | $644 or $530 (respectively) |
Over the next 2 weeks (Week 5 & 6) families will receive a personalised email with a link to a form to complete the purchase of one of these devices for each of your children. Once this purchase has been completed you will receive a confirmation email letting you know the date that your child can bring their device home.
If MCS has additional stock remaining we will make this available to purchase on Thursday 14th December 2023 with purchases being made between 9am and 1pm for the second round prior to returning excess stock to the lease company.

Car Park Safety

Help! Help! We need your help! We have had a child who has had a near-miss in the Overflow Church Car Park recently.
With an increasing number of families joining our school community, please be reminded that the safety of our students and community is paramount in the carpark of a morning and afternoon. We thank you for your continued support in keeping others safe and would like to remind you that we now have a staff member who has been engaged to assist with the safe traffic flow in the car park. We ask that drop-off and collection of children in the morning (8am-9am) and afternoon (3pm-3:30pm) is solely from the Overflow Church Car Park.
Thank you for your assistance with the following car park protocols:
10 km/h speed in car park.
'Kiss and Drop' of children is to be parallel park outside the Overflow Church. No parking along the full length of the southern edge of the carpark for ‘Kiss & Drop’ between 8-9am each morning.
Children and parents to cross into the carpark at the designated crossing.
Listen to and follow the directions of the Staff on Duty at all times.
Park in designated car parking spaces only.
No Parking, drop-off or collection of children from the school grounds.
No Parking in the designated parks for Medowie Medical Centre.
No parking in front of Medowie Medical Centre. This space is reserved for Emergency Vehicle access only.

Uniform Orders - No Hat, No Play
Wearing a hat when involved in outdoor activities is, and has always been, an important element to protecting ourselves from the damaging ultraviolet light that causes sunburn and irreversible damage to our skin. While a range of ‘sun safe’ practices are part of our policy at MCS, it is becoming increasingly common for some of our students to have misplaced their hat during the cooler months of the year.
As the temperatures increase we will again be focussing on, and expecting, each and every student to have a hat available when at school, and to wear it, whether that be during breaks or during PDHPE and Sport.
Can we ask that our families help their child by ensuring they have a hat for school, and if they do not, to communicate this with their child’s Care Group / Homeroom / Classroom Teacher, and to purchase one online.
Uniforms can be ordered online, which can be accessed via the school website under the ‘Parent Hub’ and the ‘Uniform Shop’ at the bottom of the page. Here is the link for your convenience:
Please see the MCS Uniform Policy for full details. An excerpt in relation is found below:
Policy statement
All students at Medowie Christian School will wear their uniform correctly with pride every day.
Procedures
The school expects that school hats are worn at breaks and outside classes for active play throughout the year.
Summer uniform is to be worn only during Terms 1 and 4. Winter uniform is to be worn during Terms 2 and 3 or for special events as requested by the school. (Any alterations to the this will come from the School Executive)
A note from a parent/carer is always required if a student is not in correct uniform (to cover a short period only). The explanation must also be of a reasonable nature. Ongoing breaches of the school’s uniform policy will result in disciplinary action and follow up with families.
Uniform Shop - all parts of the school uniform can only be purchased from the school’s uniform shop (other than shoes).
Remembrance Day Service
The students of MCS will honour those who have given their lives in past conflicts in a special Remembrance Day Service. This will be held on Friday, 10th November from 10:40 - 11:05am in the Lighthouse. Students are encouraged to wear poppies and the medals of their relatives who have served in the defence forces to mark the significance of the occasion.
Do you like Goats?

MCS is looking for a host family to look after our goats during the Christmas holidays! All food will be provided for our bleating friends, as well as delivery and pick up. All we request is that there will be some form of shelter from the elements and access to water and a pat. If you are interested, please email:
