T1, Week 5

The Mark Drama

The Mark Drama is a simple, yet powerful, performance of the story of Jesus. It engages theatre-in-the-round to create a joyful yet hard-hitting performance of the Gospel. In The Mark Drama you will watch every incident and hear nearly every word spoken by Jesus as recorded in Mark’s Gospel. All in the space of 90 minutes.

This year The Mark Drama will be performed at Medowie Christian School on Sunday 29th March at 2:30pm. More details can be found below. Scan the QR codes to secure your tickets or use the Ticket Link provided.

Bus Update

This week we have seen a significant shift in the operation of the Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Stroud Bus Run. Unfortunately as this is not a School operated service we are limited in our ability to manage the service provided. While we are working with the operators of this service to find a more acceptable solution, currently we have been provided with the following communication:

Due to on-going capacity issues with Route S852, Transport for NSW have implemented the following changes: (These changes are only an interim solution until a permanent solution has been arranged by TfNSW)

Primary School Students

  • Route S852 will now be dedicated to Primary School students only.

  • All current stops and the existing timetable will continue to operate as normal.

High School Students – Morning Travel (these services will be operated by Busways – for all enquiries, please contact them on 02 4983 1560)

  • All High School students between Stroud and Booral will board S636, then transfer bus-to-bus to S626.

  • All High School students between Booral and Medowie Rest Area will travel on S626, then transfer to S674 (approximately 7-minute wait).

  • The journey will conclude at Medowie Christian School.

Afternoon Travel (PM)

  • TfNSW are still working to negotiate with operators to confirm a suitable option. We will notify you when this has been finalised.

Please note that TfNSW has implemented this arrangement to manage capacity. At this stage, timetables will not be updated publicly, and we are continuing to work towards a longer-term afternoon solution.

While we have significant concerns and have sought greater clarity, especially around the challenges associated with Afternoon Travel which have not been addressed in this communication, we have not currently been provided with any further detail. Please be assured that as a school we are advocating on behalf of our students to see this service operate in a manner appropriate for students.

NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Each year students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in tests for writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

NAPLAN Assessments will take place from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 23 March. More information will be forthcoming, but our school’s intention is to run the testing across the first four days and then any required catch-ups early in the second week. This is designed to minimise any disruption to our school’s learning sequences.

NAPLAN tests are just one part of our school learning assessment program and questions are primarily based on knowledge, understanding and skills gained from the prior year of schooling.

In preparation for NAPLAN 2026, our school will undertake activities to help students become familiar with the format and functionality of the online tests. These activities are not an assessment of student ability and will not be marked. However, to participate fully it is essential that student devices are fully charged and students have headphones at school.

Further information is available by reading this brochure or visiting the NSW Education Standards Authority website.

Students and parents can access the public demonstration site to familiarise themselves with NAPLAN and the types of questions and tools available. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN is not required nor recommended.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact Mr Mark Walter.
