T2, Week 2

Bible Club - what a change!

Bible Club took a different form this week as our young men and women gathered in separate spaces to explore what it means—and what it looks and feels like—to grow into young men and women of God.

Our Senior Leaders guided the Young Men’s Group, The Forge, while our Chaplain, Miss Beikoff, led the Young Women’s Group. We’re looking forward to more moments of truth, personal encounters with God, and meaningful times of reflection together.

Please pray for our leaders and our young people as they delve deeper this term.

Nourishing Bodies and Developing God-Given Skills in Year 8 Food Technology

This week, our wonderful Year 8 Food Technology students used their creativity and skills to prepare some healthy and delicious lunchboxes. It was a joy to see them stewarding their talents and learning with enthusiasm.

Axton prepared a bacon, lettuce, and cheese sandwich, thoughtfully assembled to be both tasty and balanced. Charlie showcased his newly developed knife skills by creating a colourful rice and vegetable salad, featuring finely julienned carrots. Rupert carefully crafted a flavourful chicken Caesar salad, later reflecting, “The hardest part was getting the chicken just right—seasoned well and still juicy.” His attention to detail was admirable. Mackenzie chose to make sushi, accompanied by roasted chickpeas and a fresh salad. She shared, “Since we rarely have sushi at home, I decided to learn how to make my own.” demonstrating initiative and a desire to grow.

We are thankful for the opportunity to help students explore healthy living, creativity, and practical life skills—all while glorifying God through their work.

HSC Music Day

On Friday May 2nd, Year 11 and 12 Music students travelled to the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music to attend the 2025 HSC Music Day.

The day consisted of performances by University of Newcastle students and students who achieved First in the State for Music 1 in 2024. Students also completed workshops lead by experienced music teachers and HSC markers from around the Hunter, providing valuable tips and tricks on how to succeed in the HSC Music course. The day then finished with a performance Master Class, allowing current Year 12 students to perform their HSC Repertoire and receive live feedback from HSC Markers.

Our Stage 6 Musicians reflected on the day saying:

"It was really cool to see the live performances, but also the live feedback at the end of it was great. We got to see what the type of things they're looking for in our performance," - Joe

"I found the presentations to be incredibly insightful on what I need to focus on and how I can improve as a music student going into the HSC" - Annika

"I personally found the entire event very helpful in gaining a better understanding of what is expected from students in the Music HSC. The presentations provided valuable tips and strategies that helped deepen my understanding of the content. They also clearly outlined the key elements that HSC markers focus on when differentiating between the bands." - Olive
