A New Term with Great Opportunity

It is always exciting to commence a new term of learning with our Secondary community here at MCS! There are many great opportunities for our Secondary school - whether it is in the classroom, on the sports fields, out on excursions, camps or service days - there is plenty we have ahead of us in this learning season. In talking with the Secondary students this week I have encouraged them to take hold of these opportunities and that all of this, plus the opening of our new building ‘The Innovation Centre’ is going to happen within the next 45 days! Of course every Term 3 also brings with it great excitement for our Year 12 classes as they only have 45 days of school remaining until they graduate and sit their final HSC exams.

There is plenty to look forward to in this wonderful community.

A Couple of Kids

This week MCS welcomed a mother and her 2 kid goats to our Agricultural Program. It has been encouraging to see this area grow and develop with our new Chicken Pens being constructed this term. Thank you to Mr Vayne and our Stage 5 Agriculture class for leading this project for our community.

Elevating your child's education in Term 3

Year after year, parents tell us that their children start the new term motivated to be more organised, study harder and get better grades. And that new-found motivation almost always fades away only a few weeks after the first day back.

So, what can you do to get – and keep – your child motivated this term?

Elevate has an upcoming parent webinar titled “How to Get (and keep) Your Child Motivated”. They will provide you with some easy-to-implement strategies to help get your child motivated for the term ahead and will cover the following topics, with time for a live Q&A at the end:

  • Use praise and reassurance to motivate your child

  • Set effective and relevant goals for your child

  • Help your child stay motivated long-term

Tune in on Wednesday 2nd August @ 6:30-7:30pm (AEST).

Next week our Year 10 - 12 students will get to be a part of targeted study skills sessions to help them build their approach to study, motivation and tackling final examinations here at school. The Elevate Team are recent graduates who have applied tried and true study strategies to be successful and it is a blessing to have them visit and share their expertise with us.
