T2, Week 3

Building a Community of Care and Safety

Our essence at Medowie Christian School is to provide a learning environment where young people feel Well Known, Well Loved and Well Taught.

In moments of overwhelm, it can be challenging for all of us to control our emotions, especially when we are an adolescent, in front of our peers. They can often feel unsure of what to do, how to seek help and who to ask for advice.

This week, the Secondary community have been talking about who they can turn to in moments of uncertainty. Who are the people in their Team cheering them on, helping them navigate social situations that are unfamiliar? Who are the adults around them that provide a listening ear and a wise word of encouragement?

Caregroup teachers, Class teachers, Coordinators, Wellbeing Officer, Counsellor, Intern Counsellor and Defence Mentor are the School team cheering our young people on, caring and praying for them, whilst always wanting their very best.

I encourage you to spend time with your child this week and ask them to share who these safe people are. Remind them that whether it’s something small playing on their mind, a friendly chat, a place to drop in on or a deeper conversation as they navigate their world, there is always a "Safe Person" at school ready to listen with compassion.

Year 7 and 10 Vaccinations

On Friday, 15th May (Term 2 Week 4), our Year 7 and Year 10 students have the opportunity to receive the recommended vaccinations through the NSW Health School Vaccination Program. This program is delivered in partnership with our school to support the health and wellbeing of our students.

If you would like your child to receive these vaccinations and have not yet provided consent, please visit the NSW Health website and follow the instructions to submit your consent online.
