T1, Week 3
Canvas
Canvas is your child’s digital learning platform. It’s where our teachers host lesson materials, revision guides, study resources and interactive multimedia links. Think of Canvas as a "one-stop shop" for academic success—providing students with everything they need to excel and providing a clear "window" into daily school life.
Secondary Hub
Our Secondary Hub (on Canvas) is the place for all things Secondary. Students can find forms to change subjects or for Illness/Misadventure, our School Policies, Lunch Clubs and Assessment Schedules (including clear guides on what to do if a task is late or a student is absent).
To help our students start every week with confidence, we post a Weekly Update. This Canvas Announcement covers everything from upcoming events and schedule changes to important reminders. To make things even easier, these updates are delivered straight to students' email inboxes, ensuring they have all the information they need to stay organised and ready for the week ahead. Students also have access to a term calendar for longer-term preparation.
Subject Courses
Every subject your child studies has its own dedicated Canvas Course. These digital spaces are designed to foster independence and help our young people become resourceful, lifelong learners. Here is how each section supports their journey:
Home Page: (The Landing Pad) - The starting point for every lesson. It features quick links to course materials, clear homework expectations, and—most importantly—instructions on how to keep up with learning if a student is absent from school.
Announcements: (Updates) - Class announcements that help students to remain organised with their learning and their work.
Assignments: (and grades) - More than just a list of due dates, this section provides detailed instructions and "how-to" tips for every formal task. Once a task is graded, students receive personal feedback highlighting their strengths and next steps. This process is vital in encouraging a growth mindset.
To-Do List (Personalised Planner) - Located on the right-hand side on the dashboard, Canvas automatically pulls all homework and assessment deadlines into one personalised To-Do list. It’s the ultimate tool for helping students manage their time and stay on top of daily homework and assessment tasks.
Join a conversation with you child about their Canvas Courses and take a look with them to see what's there.
