How quickly the weeks fly by! Next week is Week 5. We’ve had another very busy week in our Primary department and from all reports, our students are settling into the new academic year very well.
Our students are continuing to learn our MCS focus verse for 2023. Our prayer is that the bible verses our students learn while at MCS, will stand them in good stead as they grow and face the ups and downs of life as adults (or simply older students for that matter).
We learn the next part of our verse this coming week; Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Ask your child/ren if they can recite what they’ve learnt so far. (So far we learned ‘Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!' )
Clubs
Clubs began this week and we have so many students who are joining and being part of these extracurricular activities. We had our first group of Kindergarten students ‘hit’ the mountain bike track on Wednesday and they had such a great time. We’re expecting even greater numbers next week. We had some of our Kindergarten students ‘getting air’ over the jumps. I’m sure I aged 10 years in one lunch break, just watching them.
Below is the table outlining the Clubs available and when they run. It’s not too late to join a Club.
Club | Day | Teacher |
Student Leadership | Break 1 Thursday | Mrs Wright Baker |
Chess Club | Break 2 Wednesday | Mr Jenkins |
Ministry Team | Break 2 Monday | Mrs Inwood and Mrs McHugh |
Choir | Break 2 Tuesday | Mrs Blatch, Mrs Pietsch |
Public Speaking | Break 2 Wednesday | Mrs Ratcliffe |
Bike Club | Break 2 Tuesday, Wednesday | Mr Parraga and Mr Allen |
Dancing | Break 2 Thursday | Mrs Lilley and Mrs Nala |
New Early Departure Procedure
A big Thank You to our parents for following this new procedure. It makes for smooth transitions from classes to office and helps our administration and teaching staff immensely. I’m convinced as we get used to this new procedure, it will become second nature for us all.
Primary Chapels and Assemblies
A reminder of our Primary Chapel/Assembly rotation is below:
Primary Chapels will take place on Fridays from 1:40 -2:25pm during the odd term weeks and
Assemblies will take place on Fridays from 1:40 -2:25pm during the even term weeks.
All parents are warmly invited to join us for these occasions and they will be held in the MPC.
Ordinarily, we would have had our assembly in the MPC this Friday, however the forecast was for extremely hot and humid weather, so our assembly was modified and held on Friday morning in the Primary Cola.
Full House
Our Infants students took part in Full House for the first time on Friday morning and what a spectacular time it was of connections, camaraderie and some very loud cheering. Our primary students are all very hyped and can’t wait for our next Full House meeting.
We really have had a wonderful start to our academic year, for which we are very thankful.
Have a great weekend.
Every blessing,
Mr Brett Allen
Infants Coordinator
