What a great week in the Primary Department! We began the week with our first full Primary Monday gathering and it was lovely to have our new Kindergarten students join us. We spent some time remembering our R.O.C.K acronym and focusing on how to put the needs of others first and honour God in everything that we do. Mrs Nala began to teach us our MCS focus verse for 2023:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7).

We are really looking forward to what God has in store for us this year and all the learning that we will do.

Clubs

We are so blessed to have many different co-curricular clubs operating in the school during different Break times throughout the week. I encourage our students to become involved in a club and to explore different talents and skills that they may have outside of the classroom. A few clubs began for 2023 this week but all clubs should be up and running in Week 4. Please see below the timetable for our MCS Primary School clubs:

Exciting Art Work

As I visited the classrooms this week I was particularly drawn to some beautiful paintings of Wattle in 2PI and 2R. Congratulations to the students who have produced this beautiful work as part of their Integrated Unit about celebrations. Stage 1 also had some beautiful artwork of children on display.

New Early Departure Procedure

Thank you to all our families who have supported us with our new early departure procedure. This procedure has been introduced to ensure that our classroom teachers can help our students learn without interruption. When early departure can not be avoided, we would ask families to notify the school by email or by providing a signed physical note delivered to the main office before 8:50am. This will allow administration support staff to notify teaching staff when students should be sent to the main office with as little disruption to lessons as possible. We would ask that you include in your notification the following details:

  • date and time of requested early departure,

  • the reason for early departure,

  • who will be collecting the student and

  • parent or guardian to sign or send email from an associated email address of the parent or guardian.

Your child's safety is important to us and our staff will be instructed to request identification from the nominated person collecting the student, whether that person is known to staff or not. This information will be recorded in our student management system.

Primary Chapels and Assemblies

We are excited to begin our Primary Chapels and Assemblies next week.

  • Primary Chapels will take place on Fridays from 1:40 -2:25pm during the odd term weeks and Assemblies will take place on Fridays from 1:40 -2:25pm during the even term weeks.

All parents are warmly invited to join us for these occasions and they will be held in the MPC.

We are looking forward to a great year of working in partnership with you to give your child the best education possible.

Your Sincerely,

ree
