T4, Week 5

Kindergarten 2025 Orientation

It was lovely to have all our new Kindergarten students for 2025 come and visit us this Wednesday, 13th November. These young students visited the Kindergarten classrooms and were engaged in some fun learning experiences in order for them to have a small taste of life at “big school”. Thank you to all our MCS staff who made this a successful morning and to our Student Leaders who warmly welcomed our guests on arrival.

K- 2 Swim School

This week all of our K - 2 students have been very busy participating in swimming lessons in order to learn to save themselves and improve on their current swimming skills. As we live in a hot country and in a beautiful geographical area surrounded by water, it is vitally important that our students learn to swim from an early age. It has been very encouraging this week to see our students enjoying themselves in the water and becoming more competent swimmers. Swim school continues everyday next week.

Christmas at MCS

We are excited to begin celebrating the birth of Christ at MCS. You will have noticed how beautifully decorated the office is and our students are busy learning about the birth of Jesus during their class Devotions and Biblical Studies lessons. This is a very exciting time of the year and we have many special events planned to celebrate both Christmas and a wonderful year of school together. These events will take place in Week 8 including our:

  • Christmas Chapel and Markets on Monday, 2nd December

  • End of Year Celebration Service on Tuesday, 3rd December and our

  • Primary End of Year Fun Day on Wednesday, 4th December

More information about these events will be sent soon. In order for our students to finish 2024 well, we are encouraging them to stay focused and work hard on their academic program until the end of Week 7.  To assist with this we request that students do not bring candy canes or sweet treats to school to share with their friends or class until Wednesday, 3rd December when the students will have class parties and the opportunity to enjoy these trimmings. Students are welcome to write and exchange Christmas cards with their friends at school but we request that the giving of gifts to friends be done outside of school time. This is to ensure that no child feels left out and the end of the year is special for everyone.

Parent Communication During the School Day

We understand that parents will sometimes need to send messages to their children throughout the school day. When this becomes necessary please email MCSStudentServices@acc.edu.au and we will arrange for a message to be delivered to your child at an appropriate time. In order for us to ensure that your child is safe and does not become distracted from their learning, we request that parents do not message their children on their iPads during school time. We thank you for your support with this request.

Primary Assembly and Chapel

Primary Chapel is held on Friday during odd weeks of the term and Primary Assembly is held on even weeks. Parents are warmly invited to both Chapel and Assembly which are held in The Lighthouse beginning at 2:15pm.

Please note: Due to the constraints of the size of the Overflow Church our Week 6 Primary Awards will be presented at Monday Morning Lines in Week 7, Monday, 25th November.
