T4, Week 5
Kindergarten 2024 Orientation
It was lovely to have our Kindergarten 2024 students and their families visit MCS on Wednesday. The new Kindergarten students spent a morning in the Kindergarten classrooms with Mr Allen, Mrs Lilley and Mrs Dew listening to stories, engaging with craft and learning all about life in Big School. Their parents spent the morning meeting key MCS Primary staff and learning about all there is to know about being a Kindergarten parent. We look forward to welcoming these new families into our MCS community and travelling with them through their child’s educational journey.

K-2 Swim School
It is hard to believe but it is that time of the year again! Our K-2 Learn To Swim School will take place over the next two weeks being Week 6 and Week 7. All Kindergarten and Stage 1 classes will be participating in this program so please check the Parent Portal to ensure that you have given your child permission to participate and that you know all the details about what your child will need for this exciting program. We highly recommend that the children have a restful weekend so they are ready for a very busy two weeks and that they get a good sleep each night.
Christmas
Many of you will have noticed the beautiful Christmas decorations that have appeared in the school office this week. As I walk around our Primary classrooms it is also lovely to see Christmas decorations beginning to be displayed, especially those being made by our students. Christmas is such a special time of year as we celebrate the birth of Christ and peace and goodwill on Earth. We have some special Christmas celebrations planned for Week 9 of this term that our students will particularly enjoy. In the weeks leading up to this, we encourage students to write cards and share them with their friends. In order for no child to feel left out we ask that students do not bring gifts to school for their peers. On Wednesday, 6th December, the final day of school, each class will celebrate Christmas and the end of the year with a class party. This will be the opportunity for students to bring candy canes and sweet treats to share with their class. In order for the last day of school to be very special we ask that candy canes and shared sweet treats not be brought to school before then.
Year 6 Graduation
We warmly invite all parents of our Year 6 students to attend their special Graduation Assembly. This will take place on Thursday, 30th November (Week 8) from 9:30 - 11:30am. This event will begin with a whole school assembly to celebrate the journey that our Year 6 students have taken through the Primary School and will conclude with a special morning tea for the Year 6 students and their parents in the Staffroom. If you are a parent/guardian of a Year 6 student, could you please send your child’s class teacher a picture of them in Kindergarten for this assembly.
On Friday, 1st December the Year 6 students will then set off on an adventure to a mystery location in order to engage in some challenges and to celebrate their friendships and the conclusion of their Primary education. The location for this event is a secret but will be revealed to parents through the Parent Portal soon.
Primary Celebration Day - Last Day of Term 4
What a wonderful year it has been! As a celebration of the birth of Christ as well as the growth and development of our students this year, the Primary Department will hold a fun day for all the Primary students. This will take place at school on Wednesday, 6th December with lots of exciting activities that will happen throughout the day. Each class will spend some time enjoying play on jumping castles and Stage 1, 2 and 3 will be involved in water activities on the oval. Lunch will be as normal for the day and in the afternoon the students will exchange 'Secret Santa' gifts and enjoy a Christmas movie together. The Secret Santa process will be organised by class teachers and each child will be asked to purchase a small treat and drink for their Secret Santa. This treat and drink will become the end of year class party and the students will enjoy these while watching their movie. Additional information about the Secret Santa process will be sent to families soon. In order for all children to feel loved and included we ask that students do not bring gifts for other children to school on this day. We do however encourage students to exchange Christmas cards with their friends.

2024 Primary Classes
As we move into Term 4 many students and their families are beginning to think about class placements for 2024. The development of classes for the new year is a very large and complex task that is taken very seriously by our Primary staff. A great deal of prayer and discussion amongst the teaching staff goes into which class students are placed in. In making these decisions we consider the needs of all students and aim to place each student with at least one friend so that they can begin the new school year feeling comfortable. We request that parents trust our professional judgement and know that we will carefully place their child where we believe their needs will be best met. We are blessed with a very professional and talented Primary teaching team and no matter what class your child is placed in you can be confident that they have a dedicated teacher and they will be ‘Well Known, Well Loved and Well Taught’. 2024 Primary classes will be communicated to parents during the week beginning 15th January, 2024.
