NAIDOC Week Chapel

We concluded last week by gathering as a whole school to worship God and honour our First Nations students in our annual NAIDOC Week Chapel. During this special time we listened to a message by Safina Stewart from the Christian Indigenous organisation Common Grace and were also encouraged by the thoughts shared by Ms Bignill from All Saints Church Petersham. Ms Bignill highlighted to us that people are our greatest treasure. It was very special to listen to our First Nations students sharing about what they appreciate about their Elders. Finally we concluded the service with members of the Medowie Lions Club presenting the school with a cheque donation for the purchase of lego for our new Innovation Centre.

NAIDOC Workshop

As part of our celebration of Indigenous culture and the First Nations students who are part of our MCS Primary community we will hold an Indigenous Art Workshop for these students. This will take place at school on Thursday 10th August. The workshop will be facilitated by Justin Ridgeway, the Culture, Heritage and Education Manager from Murrock Cultural Centre. The creative work of our First Nations students will then be showcased in the Newsletter and across the Primary Department.

Infants Athletics Fun Day

We are excited to announce that our Infants Athletics Fun Day has been rescheduled to Friday, 11th August. All parents are warmly invited to join us on the day and watch their children compete and develop their Athletics skills. Kindergarten Home Reading Information Evening

All Kindergarten parents are invited to a Home Reading Information Evening. This will take place on Wednesday, 16th August from 6pm - 7:30pm in the Kindergarten classrooms. Come along and learn all about how children learn to read and how you can help your child succeed at reading through our Home Reading Program.

Book Week

Book Week is coming! Book Week will be held this term from the 21st to the 25th of August (Week 5). For all our Book Week information please refer to the Library News.

MCS Bike Track

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful facility like our Bike Track at MCS. Our students love participating in Bike Club at lunch time and Mountain Bike Riding for Sport. We are able to run such exciting programs because we have teachers who give up their lunch time to supervise the students and make sure that they are safe. The Bike Track is, however, unsupervised before and after school and in order to maintain student safety we ask that students not use the track during these times.
