It has been a busy week in our Primary Department this week! We began the week with our Memory Verse Champions helping our students revise our focus passage for the year:

Learning scripture is so beneficial for us. When we learn key elements of the word of God as children, His promises are readily available to us as we journey through life giving us key strategies to manage challenging situations. It is our prayer that our students will remember the memory verses they are taught throughout their years at school and apply these to their life as they explore everything that God has for them.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Next Wednesday, 22nd March MCS will be holding Wellbeing Wednesday. This is a day where we will slow the pace of the school day and help our students to develop strategies that enhance and build their wellbeing. Primary students are invited to wear their sport uniform and to bring a special healthy picnic lunch that we will all enjoy together on the oval. Throughout the day they will engage in learning experiences in their stages planned around the following acronym:

Meditation (on the word of God/prayer)

Exercise

Diet

Sleep

Break Time Club Fun

At MCS we are blessed to have special interest clubs running each day during Break 1 and 2. A new club that has just been started is our Infants Dance Club. This takes place each Friday during Break 1. It is so lovely to see our younger students taking the opportunity to be involved in this program.

Infants Swimming Fun Day

We warmly invite all our parents and caregivers to our annual Infants Swimming Fun Day.

When: Tuesday, 21st March

Where: Stockton Pool

Time: The fun day will begin at approximately 10:15am

Dress: Come to school with your swimmers under your MCS Sport Uniform and House colours.

Bring: 2 towels, school broadbrim hat, sunscreen, fruit break, recess, lunch, money for the canteen (no hot food or soft drinks available), water bottle, rash shirt (students must wear a rash shirt to participate in activities), plastic bag, dry undies.

Travel: Students will travel to and from the pool by bus.

Permission: Please make sure you grant your child permission to participate on the Parent Portal.

Pick Up From Pool: If you plan to take your child home from the pool please make sure that you inform their class teacher and have their name marked off the roll.

Inclement Weather: If we need to cancel the Swimming Fun Day due to inclement weather an announcement will be made on the Parent Portal, Facebook and by text message at 7:30am.

We are looking forward to a very fun day together where our students can celebrate their developing swimming ability.

Prep Starting Time

I am pleased to announce that the Prep doors will open to receive children at 8:35am from Monday 13th March. The finish time of 3pm will remain the same. In order to ensure their safety, all Prep students should be delivered and picked up from the Prep room by an adult. Please note that Prep children are not to be left in the playground with an older sibling.

Wet Weather Planning

We have been blessed with some beautiful, dry, hot weather lately. It won’t be long before we see rain again. In order for our students to be prepared for wet weather, we encourage families to purchase a good quality raincoat that can remain in your child’s bag for when it is needed. Yellow is the optimal colour for visibility and safety. Some good options can be found below:

  • Kmart: Sizes 1-9. Price: $29.

  • Best and Less: Transparent colour (not yellow). Sizes 4-14. Price: $15.

  • Anaconda: CAPE Kids Pack It Rain Jacket. Sizes 4-16. Price: $51.99. Club Price: $41.99

  • Mountain Warehouse: Parka II Kids Waterproof Jacket. Sizes 2-13. $40.99. Currently 20% off for $32.79

  • Kathmandu: Kids Pocked-It Kids Two Layer Rain Jacket. Sizes 2,4,6. Price: $79.98

  • eBay, Amazon and Catch also have some options available for varying prices.

Due to the safety risk of many children walking around with umbrellas, we ask that Primary students leave their umbrellas at home.
