HRIS Stage 3 Basketball Tournament

Congratulations to our Stage 3 Basketball teams who represented MCS at the HRIS tournament on Tuesday. Our teams have been training hard during their Club time in their breaks and they demonstrated the great skill that they have developed throughout the course of the year with their precision on the basketball court. The MCS teams played hard on the day and showed great sportsmanship in the way they interacted with the other teams. Thank you to Mrs Garner and Mr Pullen for all the time and effort that you put into preparing our teams for the competition.

Celebrating Year 6 Learning

This week, we are delighted to share a ‘sneak peek’ into the dynamic and diverse learning, heartwarming connections and inspiring community service that Year 6 have embraced throughout Semester 1.

During English studies, Year 6 have broadened their literary device toolkits by analysing the complex themes, interweaving plots and contrasting characters depicted in The Wild Robot by Peter Brown and War Horse by Michael Murporgo. They diligently engaged in rigorous discussions, designed graphic and digital presentations and crafted purpose-specific compositions.

Mrs Lukins, our resident LAB technician, sparked an interest in physics, helping Year 6 assemble and evaluate various wire and clip electrical circuits — a truly electrifying experience! Time spent with our kinder buddies is greatly treasured. Each fortnight Year 6 led their little buddies through a delightful mix of song, hands-on craft, and energetic outdoor play, strengthening bonds across the school and demonstrating what it truly means to be a supportive mentor.

Physical fitness and cross-code skills were also a priority; from AFL to rainy-day indoor noodle hockey, students consistently demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship. Finally, creativity soared in Visual Arts as Year 6 experimented with diverse art styles and forms. Students developed their critical thinking by discovering how historical and contemporary artists communicate ideas, while mastering core techniques in both two and three-dimensional media.

New Primary Athletics Carnival

We are excited to announce that this year we will hold our first ever Prep to Year 6 Primary Athletics Carnival. This will be held on Wednesday, 10th June at Kindlebark Oval. On Wednesday you should have received an email outlining the carnival with a link to complete a Google Permission Form. Please note that you will need to complete a separate Google Permission Form for each of your children.

This is a significant change in the way we have run our Athletics Carnivals in the past. There will be no separate Infants Athletics Carnival and Year 2 will participate in the upper Primary component of the carnival allowing our 8 year olds to qualify to represent MCS at HRIS Athletics. Please also note that Prep involvement in this carnival is for the Wednesday class only. We warmly invite all parents to join us on the day to cheer our students on and look forward to seeing our Infants and Upper Primary students shine on the athletics track and field.
