T2, Week 2

What's next? What about Finding Dory? Or Frozen 2?
This question has been asked SO many times over the last 4 weeks! The answer to both of these suggestions is that they don’t actually exist as a musical yet. We will start our search for the ‘right’ MCS musical for 2026 once we finalise all things Finding Nemo Jr.
As we continue to ‘just keep swimming’ in the Finding Nemo Jr wrap-up, we have appreciated the emails, verbal feedback and excitement within our community. This week we’d love to share a selection of reflections and thoughts from some of our lead cast members who spent many HOT summer afternoons rehearsing in order to be ready for our performances.
Student Reflections
The lead cast members were asked the following questions to help them formulate their reflection responses:
1. What was your favourite part of Finding Nemo Jr?
2. Name one obstacle you encountered and how you overcame it.
3. Describe a moment when you learned something new.
4. What part of your work are you most proud of?
5. During the Performance I felt...
6. After the Performance I felt...
(In alphabetical order by name)
"I liked meeting the cast and making new friends , they felt more like family by the end of the show. During the performance I felt so nervous I felt sick but after the performance I felt proud of myself. Overall, the performance was so fun and I made some great memories with new friends and I would definitely do it again!"

Nemo
played by Amira
"I enjoyed performing and hanging with my turtle friends, particularly the dance. I also enjoyed doing the main casts hair and getting to know the other kids. It wasn't easy making time to do my HSC work while also doing the musical, but I got through it. I learned how to do bubble braids and I was proud of my achievements, particularly the turtle scene. It made me happy and excited and it's sad that it's now over."

Crush
played by Amity
"My Favourite part of Finding Nemo Jr was the actual performance. Just being on stage and having fun made every one of those hot rehearsals worth it. Whenever I didn't understand something I asked lots of questions and kept doing by best. I was proud of my commitment. There were many times when I wanted to give up or just skip rehearsal but I kept going, and I'm glad I did because now I'm sad that it's all over but proud of how I did it."

Sea Turtle
played by Bethany
"I loved being able to connect with people who I normally wouldn't connect with and see really how much work was being done to put the musical together. Time was definitely an obstacle to overcome when rehearsing and performing, along with catching up on all the missed school work. I learned how to properly use my voice, body language and acting skills. I'm really proud of not freezing on stage and catching the stick every time! No one dropped them! I was happy when the performances were on and I'm sad now that it's over."

Chum
played by Callum
"It would be impossible to choose my favourite part of the Finding Nemo Jr. Musical. I just had so much fun with everything! From auditioning, to rehearsing, to performing, I had the greatest experience. I loved performing alongside my friends, strengthening connections with my peers, trying on costumes and make-up, going along with the stage production, everything! Playing a role in the musical was awesome, and I would love to do it again. I was really proud of myself for my performance, but a highlight for me was Bruce's 'crazy' scene. I'm really pleased at how each performance turned out, as I was a bit worried that I might've made a mistake in front of everyone. I'm extremely grateful, and I will never forget the experiences I had during this musical, the friends I made and connections I've strengthened along the way. Thanks again to the teachers for the wonderful time I had. I'm forever grateful to be a part of it."

Bruce
played by Isaac
"I loved being able to work with new people and get to know more people I didn't know and form a relationship with. Everyone was so encouraging towards each other and we had many laughs. I learnt that performance is about your facials as much as your body. I'm most proud about learning my lines and dances and also being able to take on the role and perform well while also encouraging those around me to perform well too. I was so happy and excited to be a part of the show."

Dory
played by Jazzmyn
"My favourite part of the musical was the turtle scene. I like that all the turtles just appeared. I thought it was an obstacle that the seagulls kept tripping on the cords but people helped them up. I loved learning new songs and I'm proud of the performing I did because it was fun and it was my first time. I felt happy doing the show and afterwards I felt sad that it was over."

Sheldon
played by Luca
"My favourite part was the whole experience and all the fun times we had. At first we kept reading other people's lines! But I learnt that drama isn't boring, it's actually really fun! I am proud of myself for getting up on stage no matter how many people were there. It was a really encouraging time."

Octopus
played by Micah
"My favourite part of the musical was performing with my friends. At first it was hard knowing when to go on stage and how to do the bows in order but I learnt that if you put in the all the hard work it pays off. I'm most proud of making memories with my friends. It was a really exciting (and tiring!) experience."

Barracuda / Crab
played by Richard
"I liked being in the musical and the turtles were the best part. I found it hard to figure out the barracuda part but we got there. I learnt how to do with turtle dance and we all danced along in the music room while we watching them performing to the live audience. We all worked really and hard and the show was amazing. It made me happy and tired and now I'm sad (and relieved) that it's all over."

Barracuda / Crab
played by Sahri
"My favourite part of the Nemo Musical was the experience. I liked watching the other performers and how the musical came together. I had to overcome some stage fright but with practise I got use to it and I wasn't scared anymore. I learnt to be always in the moment and to never give up. I'm most proud of never giving up on practising when I felt like I couldn't do something. I continued and in the end I was proud of what I had done. The show made me excited, happy, confident and filled me with energy. I feel proud, thankful, tired and accomplished now that it's finished."

Angel Fish
played by Sophia
"I loved how during rehearsals we got to know people in the cast. It was really great how everyone could enjoy the experience with friends and create some new ones along the way. We learnt so many new things along the way - I learnt how to become my character and be that character as part of a group. I've never really acted before, this was my first role and it was really exciting. I felt happy during showtime, everything was really organised and I loved knowing that people were there to support the whole cast. I was tired at the end and kinda sad that it was over."

Peach
played by Tayla
"I really enjoyed the community involved in Finding Nemo Jr and loved how inclusive everyone was, it really helped me to feel more comfortable with my acting and singing, especially since it was my first time performing. I found it difficult to act with genuine emotion to begin with as I found it embarrassing and difficult, I overcame this by realising that genuine emotion is more impactful to watch and so no one will think less of me because of it. During the performance I felt a little nervous, but once I began to act I felt excited. After the performance I felt proud of myself (and the other actors) and excited that we had done it. I was very grateful to the teachers and parents who helped with the play, props and costumes and taught me how to act."

Marlin
played by Zimriy
